toyota t-case Output shaft

I ran ATF in my last set of Toyota Dual's. They shifted easier and stayed a lot cleaner inside. Never had a problem out of them. As for the swap...yeah about 4 hours should do it. Just get a buddy and some beer and you're all set.

rear case is out and sitting on the bench - waiting for shaft to show up before tearing it down

Alrighty

New output is here and installed.

Couple notes on things I found.

Whole damn thing pretty much needs disassebly to get the output shaft out. Not bad though. Tools needed - 14mm, 12mm and whatever the output shaft nut is. Some good snap ring pliers

then there is only 1 bearing that needs pressed off the shaft and reinstalled. Problem is you have to pull it off by the outer race and not the inner cause I couldn't get a bearing seperator in there. There is a spacer that is the diameter of the inner race so no luck there. Bobby long himself assured me that it would be ok and it was it didn't take hardly anything to press the bearing off.

Press it off, press it back on new one and reverse the process for reassembly! I got maybe 2-3hrs into pulling the cases, disassembly and reassembly. Cases still have to go back in and be filled up though.

Oh, so I'm there at a clean bench makin sure to lay each part out in order that I removed it. Keeping very good track of the little balls and what not

covered in gear oil and grim

my wife standing behind me trying to have a conversation about something when I tell her to just wait a second so i don't lose any thing.

she says "there's a little ball on the ground by your left foot"
What? Rechecking all the ones I removed and ones that I hadn't yet - all still there????

pick it up and compare it to the others?

so I guess something else I took apart is missing a detent ball or something cause it sure as **** wasn't from the yota case - had me freaked for bit though cause I have no idea what it's from. Oh well whatever it is it's not needed!! :flipoff1:

Techta - HELP!

I need the "thrust" washer that goes on the output shaft right before you put the 4wd drive gear on

my case won't do 2wd due to a problem with the longfield shaft
I have to machine my thrust washer down and I want to have a stock one on hand just in case.

It's gonna be tough to get this done and get to hannibal on Friday

I need a spare 23 spline case
and my case has 4.7's in em
a spare case would cost me $$ to just sit in the truck
and not even be useable cept a few pieces

then I'd install it to get thru the weekend or something only to fix my case and do it again.

now if I found a 4.7 23 spline case for cheap I'd carry it around as a spare but by then I'd have enough money into everything that I should just sell it all and get a lovell, atlas or D300

from what I hear some guys are breaking front outputs so I might not mind havin those around

you can break anything if you try hard enough laughing1

get the TG 4.7 gears i paid under 300 for my set... can't go wrong there esp. if it's for a spare case thumb.gif

I have $640 in my doubler, 2.28+4.7 fror twin stick... ****'s cheap---even if you had a whole doubler setup as a spare----not even close to a lovell, stak or atlas...

man my luck with parts is just terrible.

I honestly can not remember ONE SINGLE part that I've purchased brand new that just flat out work with no issues, I'm getting fed up with my luck.

The longfield shaft had a tolerance issue and is WRONG. I apparently alerted bobby to this issue and he is taking care of it for me and everyone else. Can't say enough good things about how he is handling it.

I'm just really, really pissed with my luck. No way that I can constantly order the flukes in the bunch, but sure as **** it happens every single time. Only thing I'm 100% on is that if I pay for it, it won't work.

Yep I am glad I don't have your luck, I know you've had a hard time. Bobby is an awesome guy----now you try to screw him over he ain't stupid. I've seen him warantee stuff he shouldn't have because the person was honest with him... This is from in-person dealings at Johnson Valley---not speaking from watching stuff on PBB.

I reeeeallly want his shafts for my 60 but they are a lil bling bling OUCH for my budget rig... I was riding with Odie in his rig on 47's and longfield 60 shafts and he was HAMMERING them and they wouldn't break!

finally broke this thing last weekend

trail-gear will warranty it with one of their parts but are out of stock indefinitely

ordered one from RCV and it got here next day
