toyota t case question!!! HELP!!!

Crash rebuilt my turbo tranny after 250,000 miles, said it was still in fair shape. I don't quite know where you are getting your information besides pulling it out of your ass:;

I would agree the turbo trans are way over rated. You said it yourshelf you had yours rebuilt.
Have had 4 turbo trucks and the trans was bad in 3 out of 4 of them. All they are is a V6 trans with a 4cyl. bellhusing on them. POS.

I got a turbo trans from Mark (Thanks) and it does pop out of 1st/3rd gear. For what it costs to get a rebuild, I think that I would rather find an R150F that is in good shape and take the 4.31 first gear and swap it out with the 3.93 first gear and the tailshaft in the R150F and make the R150F into an R151F. I got it because I like having the stout transmission and it was cheaper than getting an extra adapter (V6) to add an RF1A/dual case setup.

LOL way to back a bro up Mark. :awesomework:

I think everything has its place. :corn:

If you really want to keep with toyota stuff. And have the extra cash in yer pocket to buy it, rebuild it, pay extra for the parts and pieces, you can end up with a little bit stronger transmission for say a 39" + rock buggy. :awesomework:

But for an average dude like Pete who will be running 35's and will only be lightly wheeling it. Oh and is a broke mo fo it probably doesn't make sense.

On a side note. I have heard it is more or less the same as the V-6 (I know nothing about most v-6 stuff because I stayed away from it like the plague)

If that is the case why is it that from what I have heard the V-6 trans almost never has problems? or is that fantasy land too?

none of my 5(?) 6? toys have EVER popped out of any gear....
wtf are u guys doing to these things?

Yep, it just didn't last at all, rebuilt after 250,000 and it didn't really need it. What a POS, yep. The bigger bearings, main shaft and 23 spline don't mean **** because they are so much weaker. You guys spread the word that they are a piece of crap so there will be more out there for me. :awesomework:
The only time mine ever had a problem popping out of 1st and 3rd is when the rubber shifter boot was not positioned correctly and pushed against the shifter but hey you guys are the gurus

Why are you insisting to be polar opposite on this?

Nobody is calling them a PIECE OF **** or insulting your decision to use one. We are simply relaying our experiences and considering cost for an average user. I sure wish people could come to middle ground and discuss things rationally more.

It could be how some people drive. Like say lugging, a truck that had larger 31 inch tires from almost new, or people who down shift through every gear as they are slowing down. But I have changed out a LOT of Toyota transmissions. Mark and I have both parted out and sold a lot of them as well to people who needed them for their trucks that had pop out problems or second gear syncro/grinding problems.

I don't own a transmission shop so I can't say what kind of failure rate these things have over all. But it certainly happens.

I would venture to say the trans in a turbo truck was most likely drivin harder (hense the reason for buying a turbo powered truck) so with the added torque and the more aggressive driving style they prob. are have more driving induced wear. I have never broke a toyota trans in any of the 100 or so trucks I have owned. I have to agree that the w56 is enough for most, I have personally dropped the clutch multiple times at 5500 rpm on the pavement (with a spool rear diff) and have never blown it up my W56. I down shift every time I stop and I have never had a syncro prob and both the trucks with w56's have over 230k on them. :redneck:

You probably read that in Petes transmission thread. :haha:

No, Pete found a rare 93 4Runner with the 22RE on CL and didn't have the money.

So being the nice guy I am, It is now sitting in my side yard waiting for Pete to get his income tax rebate

I'm such an awsome guy I talked the guy down from 1200.00 to 900.00 totally handled the deal while Pete was at work, paid for it, and we used my car dolly to go get it. It actually runs GREAT but has a bad timing chain guide and is my favorite flavor of chocolate milkshake.:haha::haha::haha:

Edit (ps) Pete now owes me a few 's, or a hooker next time we are in tijuana, for me being such a nice guy
