I would use carriage bolts over screws. Screws tend to be tempered hard and will break when the frame flexes and just dont have the gripping power of bolts. there more of a pain to install (and remove ) but a better way to go (imo)

Probably will never replace the deck ever again so screws will do me no problem, its just holding a deck in place not a lot of stress on these suckers:awesomework:
