@#&$% trailer lights

Might use this as a good opportunity to wire up a seperate circuit for the running lights on the trailer. I've always heard it's a good idea to do this especially if you think you'll ever haul anything with more than a couple lights on it, since the stock tail lamp/running lamp circuit isn't adequate past a few extra lights on the trailer.

Get a relay and splice it in so that your running light circuit triggers a new, fused circuit for the trailer lights and you'll be good to go. Got a service manual? If not, PM me as I can look up the appropriate wiring diagrams from my FSM.

So find the running light wire, splice in a relay (with something like a t-splice dealy about mid-truck or so), place a fuse inline after the relay, run that wire into the correct pin on the connector...

Let me take this opportunity to divulge that I would rather chew off my own testicles than deal with wiring/electrics :puke:

I think I may have a FSM for the Dodge from my first dually, but it may not cover the correct years so I'll let ya know :cool:

You don't need to do all that shiat...Splice in a wire from the tail lights to the 7 pin connector and it will be fine.

Yeah, my long drawn out procedure above would fix it, but this will also fix it, just leaves the trailer lights on the truck's stock running light circuit like factory... no biggie if you're just hauling a car or utility trailer. I think doing all the extra circuit adding and such is mainly for peeps who are pulling a huge gooseneck with running lights all over it and interior cargo lights or some other such stuff.

Your method Matt would be more robust, but it's a huge pain in the butt.

Other lights, such as cargo, would be run off a seperate 12V circuit right from the battery.
