Trailer Tire Opinion

A lot of factory tires are bias ply on trailers. I switched to radials and the tires last much longer. I'm in the same boat as you I wheel 3 or 4 weekends a month and wear tires out before they crack. When I switched to radials my tires stay much cooler and I had way fewer blow outs, but I tow at stupid speeds so YMMV.

call down to truck performance NW they sell trailers the have a **** ton of tires and wheels and just tires... when they put custom wheels and tires on the just stack them in the back of the shop... I was just down there a few weeks ago and seen them (425)432-7276 ask for Brandon

yeah lots of flat bed trailers and enclosed trailers come with bias ply.... new camp trailers come with raidles..... duhh:flipoff:

I don't know why everybody's singling out schwab tires as crap....

I'm with you Kevin. Opinions and bad experiences are just that.

I'll see if I can get deal on used before I buy new.

Let's see, my 7K Flat came with 205/75/15 radials when new ('03), my neighbor's 14K Flat came with LT235/85/16 radials new in '05; every new trailer (flat/enclosed/whatever) I've looked at since like 2000 came with radials;Every new PJ trailer has radials;new BullDog=radials; New Freeway=radials......the list goes on!!!:fawkdancesmiley:

Spend a little more on tires. Buy the highest load rating you can find and I have found the tires tread life lasts 2-3 times longer.:awesomework:

My trailer is a little different I run 235/85r16 G load range. Just blew a tire last year and had to replace(I was running at max GVW). The tread looks the same. The rest of the tires have 2 years on them. My trailer probably see's 5-10K miles per year with 2 rigs on it.

If you want to go cheap, get a set of small truck tires from a wrecking yard. They have always done myself good in the past as long as you don't load your trailer heavy.

I run load range h radials been on 4 years and ony had 1 issue when inner sidewall rubbed fender tire went boom....I will need to replace them this year sometime.

Got a quote at Discount Tire. And while more than I wanted to spend, the warranty and ease of installation (read: I don't have to mess with it) is the determining factor for me.

I will soon be the proud owner of Goodyears.
