• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

tranny people... I need to decide on which tranny to run.

I run a th350 with a 2000 LS1 motor and 205. My first case broke at rear mount. Possible mounting issue caused but well worth the money to find a "K" case for security. I like the th350 because if you was ever to decide you wanted a manual then you can swap in sm465 and 205 exactly the same mounting points and length. My opinion is to make sure and upgrade the sprag in a th350 if you decide on it.

You can replace the torington style bearings in the trans with the old style thrust brass thrust washers. The th350s that were in trucks had more clutches. There is also places throughout the trans that use bushings, in these places stack the bushings in the bores. This help with shaft deflection. I wish I could explain more but that is what the coworker that built my TH350 told me. Find a way to tie the t-case, adapter, trans mount all together to prevent the tailsection of the th350 from holding all the weight.

My TH350 is holding up well in a 5K lb YJ with a 231/300 double behind it and a very mild TBI 350 in front of it.
All that being said. Get a TH400 and never worry.

No one really uses first much anyways and if your buying an atlas you could figure your crawl ratio and order your gearing to suite you. That longer first gear is sweet.if you think about it most of the time if your geared right your going to be hitting second as soon as your on the gas
