Trans @ t-case suggestions

Well I am sorry for Cole and would never refer someone that I wouldn't use myself. But what I got was different than that. I was told his third gear was bad to start and he would not put in another piece of used equipment only to charge him again. :dunno:

He told Cole that the new valve body from TCI (manual reverse w?comp braking) was bad. He sent it back to TCI and TCI told him there was nothing wrong with the valve body, he must have done something wrong. He put the valve body that was in broke case tranny and could not get it to work either... put regular valve body in and said it was good to go...WRONG!!!!!! It would not go into reverse until the motor was revved up or you let it sit there in reverse for about 30 seconds. No joke, no exaggeration. So we decided to rebuild another case that Cole bought recently with the valve body from broke case tranny. We did so but did not have time to swap before Cali. Guess what happened on Backdoor along with the broke ring and pinion, Tranny quit pulling in reverse altogether! So me and AC went prerunning the course while Cole, Pops, Supercross, and Skinny took apart front end and took Trans out. Well they got the trans put back in that we built right before we left and guess what...Shifts fine! No problems whatsoever! And BTW the guy that did the work told Cole, "If you get that valve body to work, I'll give you your money back!" Looks like someone's getting a refund. ;D And I think I'm fixing to start rebuild all my own stuff from now on! Once I get confident enough I might even do friends too! :indianajones:
 
No problem, I had the same issues as Cole with reverse. Then lost all forward gears. I now will be running a th350 with reverse manual valve body. It has a 2.75 first gear, compared to a 2.53 ( I think) stock. Anyone have experience with these lower gears, if it's a bad one I'm not sure I want to even know. :puke:
 
Daniel, I would never refer anyone to someone who I know would do me or any of my friends wrong and do feel like I have done a friend wrong. NEVER. I called Billy the other day to see what became of Cole's trans and he told me a different story as I explained. Sorry Cole for the heartache and will review my referals more thoroughly in the future. It's kind of hard to not think of a good shop when you walk in and the first thing you see is 2 SuperGas race cars staring at you.

I know what you mean. Seems like he should know what's going on. Talked to a lot of people and they say he's really good with the Powerglide but then again the powerglide if I'm not mistaken is an extremely simple trans. ;D Not sure what happened. We'll be rebuilding the one he did soon enough just to see why it failed. May have not been his fault, might have been some random part go bad. Who knows. PM me or Cole that story he told you if you dont mind.
 
Greg just so you know I'm not mad at you it wasn't your fault. I just got off the phone with him and asked if he was gonna give me my money back, he said he would have to think about it. Im sure he will be a crook and not give it back but I will just chalk it up as a lesson learned. Either way I am going up there tomorrow to get my valve body back that he had shipped off to TCI.

hotrod a stock 400 is twice as strong as a built 350 . if you want to be abusive the planetarys in the 350 will pop some people can make them work ??? im using ptc they are a very good hotrod!!!! trans company talk to kenny the owner he built my 400 its bad no leaks no problems ive been being very mean to it . ive only built 1 project with a350 and he broke the internals 3 times before we changed to the 400 1 yr in no problems if you want to beat it save money put a400 in it :fish:
 
I should have done it to start with. My other rig had one, and it was good. Gonna go one more round with the350.
