Ok i had a 2000 tundra that i used to tow with (i know i know, bad idea) and i stripped out the spider gears. I just bought a whole 3rd member gear set (used) and i just saved the old one. So i was was cleaning out my shop and came across this old 3rd, anyone know what size it is or if its same as a toyota truck 8" 3rd? It has those extra cross braces on the bearing caps. If its the same ill just weld it up and keep it around. If anyone knows anything let me know. Thanks

Uses a 8" RG but is different than the older 8" thirds. Won't fit in an older housing as far as I know

The Tundra uses the same diff as a taco it is 8.25" not 8". You can make it fit an 8" housing, there are techs on these swaps sorry dont have any links at this time.

Thanks:awesomework:

How about the axle splines? Same as 80s 90s 4x4? guess i could check that...stick a axle in and see if it fits...

Try measuring it...they call it 8.25 or 8.4 (have heard both) but it is really an 8" ring gear

I believe the axles are the same 30 spline as the older stuff

Edit: here's a good read on toyota axle stuff
