before i set this back up, what can i do to ensure the detroit didnt get damaged???

no signs/gashes in it anywhere.... will do all i can to ensure no small pieces of metal in there. axle shafts/splines look A OK

any suggestions

Besides visually checking the case, you'd have to take it apart. If you do, I learned a trick from Digger5 - use all thread with some washers and nuts to get it back together. I blew up my ring and pinion once and the Detroit was fine.

You would also be wise not to use a crush sleeve when you install the new gears.

Detroit should be fine. They usualy go when just one side fails like a axle shaft or front axle U joint. To know for sure take it apart or next time check it before you take it apart.

Do you need a ring and pinion? I have new 4.88 and 5.29 sets if you need. Odie.

Cause crush sleeve's bring the suck!

Like I said earlier, I did a toyota gear replacement a few week's ago and all the bearing kit came with was a crush sleeve, whereas 60's and various other's come with crush sleeve's and spacer shim combo's..... Toyota... the one crush sleeve my impact wont crush:mad:
