The 3rd wagoneer build is beginning this week.
I am planning to build a family overland rig for light trails and exploring with the kids
This will consist of a 1986 wagoneer that will get gutted and fitted with a 454 big block and 4l80 transmission.
1 ton axles , lockers, and such. Off-road seats and anything else we come up with along the build.
I have a lot of stock components that I'm gonna sell for a good price just to get out of my way.
360 engine with about 12k miles. Stock trans and case.
Stock Dana 44 axles front and rear and stock seats. New wheels and tires. I'll post everything in the for sale section as well.

New used axles just arrived. Looks like I'm gonna be using some Ram power wagon axles. 4.10 gears and factory lockers. Should make for a decent highway axle and good for some trail rides with the family.

That's a cool and unusual set of axles to use. I like it.

I'm going for different on this build. I am hoping to show that you can build a good weekend rig that drives good down the highway. So fingers crossed I don't mess this thing up too bad.

Always wanted one of these, they are all rust buckets up this way
My first one had minor rust but was awesome. My second ended up being so rusted the frame broke. This one is in great shape. Has some minor surface rust but very manageable. I'm hopeful that the big block will make this thing scoot down the road nicely and tow a small trailer with gear loaded up.

I like where this is going, you keeping a working A/C system in it? What about suspension, leaf springs or are you doing something using those power wagon suspension bits?

I plan on using a vintage air air conditioning heating system combo so I'm gonna remove the original stuff and then I'm gonna reuse all of the ramp suspension components because I have them. Or at least that's my thought process. It could change halfway through, but I would like to be able to do that.

Sounds like a solid plan. It looks like you have a good foundation to start with.

Whatever you do though, don't forget the seat heaters!
