Walker 5/5/12

We are making contact in the am to try and get something in the works...This particular section of trail has never had any work done to it...Just below it as you come up to the section in question is where the work stopped...There indeed was some discussion (back in 2010) about possibly doing a reroute here to get the trail further from the creek, but it never materialized...
Thanks Mauler for offering up some shoulder work! :awesomework: Have fun Saturday chasin' wifey around! :D

Mauler is right on with the reason the sinkhole happened. Had nothing to do with the switchback.

Back in '10 you could see ground water seeping from the walls of the trail. Add that with the soupy mess from sediment being ponded up next to the trail, and you could see that things were moving.

Unfortunately a re-route will be difficult, the terrain there gets steep on both sides. And because if you go any further north from where Pat's trail Y's off, you'll have to get a HPA permit, and an engineered bridge or culvert to cross the class 4 stream.

The crux of the problem is that walker has only one main loop and its being over-used.

Perhaps the easiest fix is to just widen pats trail and bypass that whole section, but meh that'd sorta be boring. and I'm sure the singletrack guys wouldn't like that!

lets bring this back to whos going wheeling:looser:, I will be there around 9 at the main parking lot, I'll look for you at 930. orange jeep on 4d2s. see you there and lets hit what trails that are left and not a public safety concern:puke:
