It's been like this for 3 years...always had odd alignment with other pulleys and usually squeals.

Current PS pump has gotten a little weak and has started leaking a bit.

I thought the motor was 96-99 5.7 350 so I looked at a PS pump for like a tahoe/silverado/suburban and it's different.

The bracket to mount it id like to go. I'd like something specific to properly mount a new pump.

Anybody give me any direction. I have 0 knowledge of pumps/systems/brackets. Everytime I try to Google something I seem to be hit with 47 different options that aren't real confidence inspiring.

Current steering system is pretty generic:
Stock looking PS pump
Small finned cooler
Orbital
Single 8" TSC ram.

It's steered fine the first couple years but the last six or so months I've noticed it's taking a lot more effort to turn the wheels.

See pix of old/current stuff...previous owner used a large hose on top where OE PS cap/knob screws in that's like 10" long and put cap on other end of hose. I'm assuming for ram expansion/contraction.

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Check the casting numbers on the block. That should at least give you a start for finding a bracket. The easy route is just getting a psc pump, pulley and bracket to fit your engine.

If I remember right, I think the deck that the heads mate to extends past the heads in the front of the engine and there's a number there. Maybe behind the alternator? That might just be older engines though. I had a late 60's 350 and that's where my casting number was.

It might be worth considering swapping over to a serpentine belt setup.

That looks like a stock p-pump to me. Probably just burnt up. You can get a pump from PSC that will bolt right in if you want to upgrade, just have to add a reservoir as they don't have the built in resi.

Best bet would probably be go to the junkyard and pull the accessory drive off of something. That looks like some cobbled up stuff that is missing some parts.

A late 90s vortec will have a cast aluminum upper mount with AC compressor over the pump. You may have a bastard year, or a serpentine drive from a TBI truck, or something else.

Here is my 97 Yukon

Are you going to stick with the ag ram? Same orbital?

Are you running a reservoir extender on your current pump? Helps a lot with a single ended ram.

Looks very similar to a late 80s early 90s setup. Went to get a bracket for my 90 silverado and it was wrong. Previous owner changed to a 95ish setup.

Re:

I have kinda ran into the same bracket issue, when i installed long tube headers on my 350. I was told that you can buy brackets from summit.

I'm wanting to keep this as simple as possible. No extra lines/reservoir....replace bad pump/replace braketery with factory or cheap aftermarket....keep trail riding.

I'll go peruse the local pull a parr some time.... but I'd really just like to order the right stuff and be done with it

No extra lines or reservoir, just a big piece of hydraulic hose clamped to the top of the reservoir, and another reservoir cap top clamped in the top. Instant addition of 1/2 quart or more fluid, plus gives it room to rise a fall with the ram movement with no risk of sucking the pump dry.

Your pump has probably been dying a slow death every time you turn and the ram extends all the way.

Kinda like this, but longer.

A pump from hydro brake truck maybe a good parts store option

If you get a reman pump itself won't be any different than any other P pump, just reservoir can.

Tony it may be worth throwing a guage in your pressure line to see what pressure you are actually getting.

Re:

It's got...or had the extended hose on it with the cap clamped on at top.

I'm jus thinking that setup worked fine for years.....ehy won't another last another 5 or so?

I have a factory Chevy bracket I got off onepieceatatime, believe it's a early 90 style. I can get a pic tomorrow of it. If you want it it's free, I'm running a pump off a express van. It's got the remote resi and all, works awesome and should bolt into that Chevy bracket

Should work fine. I looked back at your pics and saw the extension hose on it. Missed that the first time.

It has a serpentine setup

Not sure how the hell. I missed the last pic but I did. Looks very similar to my TBI set up.
