Welding to Copper

I took it to a radiator repair shop, he had a fix all attitude and said no problem. Told me $30 which is pretty good I think. He said he would be done today.

Gotcha. That is not bad, way better than having to buy a new one.

It is still at the repair shop, I don't think they have started it. He told me it will be ready today when I called an hour ago.

Homeboy in Ensley brazed it together and total cost was $30! Doesn't look the greatest. He had a good idea which was to remove the aluminum piece that failed all together. There is a copper tube on the cooler and a copper reducer that goes from 1/4 to 1/2. He just brazed those pieces together since a copper to copper joint is stronger anyways. I got it back together and added 3qts of fluid. Drove it around the block with no issues. Guess it is good for now

II bet you made a big sigh of relief when the ol tranny took a gear and pulled the buggy pulled under its own power ! thumb.gif

Yeah I figured it was OK, but had to check and be sure. Noticing a clunking sound in the front but I think I figured that out and fixed it also

Matt, if you ever need something likle that welded again try Morgan Performance on David Green rd. in Pelham by the old Sport Trucks place. He can weld a pretty much anything as far as I can tell. He builds Turbos and inter coolers all from scratch. He cut and welded my fuel cell for me and was reasonable. thumb.gif
