what oils?

The engine or auto trany isn't something that is easily tore down.

Don't know what to tell ya......I work on my rig constantly.....preventitive maintaince/inspection etc.If I have a doubt or concern about "something" it comes apart....hard for people to believe...but it's true.I'm not going to pay for High end lubricants that are just gonna get dumped out in a month or so(give or take). I pull the T-case off the back of my trans every month or two for one reason or another.....every time I put a fresh load of ATF back in the trans and call it good......As far as the motor....I treat that ****er like it owes my MOMMA $....and straight beat it.

I run redline synthetic in my trans/t-case and mobil1 in the motor. Axles get standard 80/90 doe to the possablity of getting water contamination....

Cheapest everything, Costco 5 gallon 80w-90, $12/case motor oil.:redneck:

One thing I've seen proven is Castrol GTX motor oil (regular, not synthetic). Auto tech class in high school rebuilt several V8 motors and put a different brand oil in each. Broke them in, ran them a good while then drained the oil and started driving. All the motors failed pretty fast except the one that had had the Castrol in it kept running 10x longer than the others. Could have been a fluke but when I feel like splurging on brand name oil thats what I get.:awesomework:

pfftt...

in MY opinion, synthetic oil is NOT worth the price difference.

I won't argue with you, but I've been running redline synthetic gear oils in transmissions for years, usually without changing them. Even in high speed, high horsepower applications.

The stuff shifts nicer.

As for diff oils, yeah, run whatever.

On modern engines I use synthetics only. On older machines, non synthetic for sure.

OK :eeek: thats basically what i said. but do you tear down the engine or auto trans every month? The reason I run synthetic in those 2 components is because it handles heat far better than conventional lubricants. and I do not in any way "baby" those 2 when it comes to the use of the skinny pedal :redneck:
