Well I'm anticipating not enjoin my current setup of 3.73s in my D60 and 14B. Considering my previous setup was toy t case with 4.70.1 and 5.29 rNp. I enjoyed leaving it in 1st gear to crawl and not pedal the ****.

My new setup will be 5.3l th350 ford 205 with 3.73s

I'm not looking for a crazy crawl ration like before but I don't want crazy rpm, s and wheel speed to put me up side down.

What gear are you running with a similar like setup? Any suggestions.

205's are only 2 to 1 in the case, so think about that, the toy was 4.7 . That is a 205 drawback. marlin has a crawl calculator just type in the trans ratio in first. t-case ratio and gear ratio for the crawl ratio.

I personally think that you would be better off selling the 205 and saving your money on gears and get a atlas 4.3 case I have a very similar setup 5.3/th350atlas 4speed 3.8 and 4.10 gears on 44 tsl's and the way these 5.3 make power I don't feel like you would be able to get the diff ratio low enough to really enjoy the power curve of the motor IMO

I wish I could fund somthing like that.. what they run 3k?

Iv always thought about a doubler but I'd have 1k+wrapped up and so on

What other options are there. Stong/dependable as a 205 but better gearing?

I am running 4.3 th350 np205. 38" sx with 5.13 in the axles. No enough gear for me. I had a Dana300 in the same setup, it was just right.

You have the option of building a 241/205 doubler and not regearing your axles if there is room in the chassis.

Way I see it you would spend close to 800 dollars re-gearing axles that is if you do the work then if you aren't happy with the outcome you could make your. 205 a 3to1 which is around 800 I think???? Or you could do a doubler it will cost around Thousand dollars but will be long and heavy you can find used atlas for 1500-2000 dollars but when you get ready to sell or change up it will have a much better resell value.

Hell I have a 4 to 1 Dana 300 I would sell you for a great price :****
Edit I was wrong. 3 to 1 is 1629.00 wow

Re:

I had 4.56 with 38 in my old Bronco, always wished I had waited on the 5.13 but they was on back order

Re:

Guess I need to jump in a few rigs with similar setups at rbd this weekend and see what I'm looking forward to.. Pm me a price on the atlas

If you put in lower transfer case gears say 3:1 vs 2:1 now you've increased the torque put on the drive shafts and pinion by 50%. But if you put the ring and pinion in the axle shafts and carrier only see an increase in torque. Sort of like why monster trucks use planetary axles with gear reduction at the hubs.
Also if you put in new gears you are also going to be installing new bearings which are more then likely going to be needed if you've installed a set of junk yard 1 tons like many of us do which is a good thing.
I'd do the gears if it was my rig.
Later,
Bobby

Re:

I ran a stock 5.3 with th 400/205 in my old buggy with 5.13s and 38s originally and never had a problem. When i put 42s on it you could tell it could stand just a little lower gear but it never really bothered me. It had plenty of wheelspeed too.
