what Springs for a YJ?

I'm considering using the RE 1444/1445 YJ SOA's for my CJ5. However, I'm trying to be sure that I won't run into any problems using them and that they'll give me a relatively even ride height front to rear.

Currently, my Jeep is spring over with 2" wide front leaf pack (4 leafs - no idea who mfr is) and 2.5" wide rear leaf pack (4 leafs - no idea who mfr is). PO said that both packs are 2-2.5" lift springs. The front spring is 44" long (eye to eye) with the centering pin being 21.5" from front/22.5" from rear. The rear springs are 45.5" (eye to eye) with the centering pin being 23" from front/22.5" from rear.

According to the tech I spoke with at RE, the SOA YJ springs are 45.5" long with the centering pin being 22.75" from front and rear. This should be okay with the rear as the dimensions are so close but compared with what's currently in the front, the RE spring would be 1.5" longer with the centering pin being located approx 1/4" back from its current position.

Does anyone see any major issues with this? Should I go with a 6 leaf rear and 5 leaf front? Would 6 leaf f and r be too stiff?

Thank you in advance

I really dont see big reason not to get them based on that. you should have 1/4 of extra slip in your dline. You got a v8 and 38s? I would say get the 6 leaf front and rear just to help with weight and axle wrap. No leaf spring is gonna ride as nice as coilovers anyway.

x2 RE 144X :awesomework:
Would these work well for my buddies '97 XJ in the rear? His springs are stiff and not long enough ( I think, anyway...)
what springs in your opinion will work for him, i don't know jack **** about jeeps the springs will be for a daily driver/camping and light wheeling, alot of road driving. he is looking at a budget of $600 including shocks and brake lines/ and all necessary hardware:cool: i am not looking for lift springs. i want them to be nice and flexxy:cool: but that have really good handling characteristics and not alot of body roll
i was wondering if stock waggy fronts F/R would bolt right up? and possible a 3-4in lift? or maybe 44044's? i know they are not cheap just looking for some good information... would a SOA be a better way to go? i haven't seen any jeeps on the street with spring overs:scratchhead: ......

I see a dozen well built Jeeps every day that are SOA. Other than road manners :gay: I see no reason for not considering a SOA.

i have a 92 and i bought a soa rough country 4 inch lift. oh about a year and a half ago and it handles well i can flex it out but still have a really stable ride i know that rough country is not the biggest name brand out there but i am happy with it. i paid 520 shipped to my door. you can buy a jp magazine they are always advertiseing the lift and they just specialized i think two months ago the best suspension for your money. they listed skyjacker pro comp and more that i dont remeber
