What to do about a trail at Walker.

Those are the steps that got rons run to were it was till weather closed work party progress. And when weather permits, the volenteers will resume that process agin.:awesomework:

Looking forward to getting it finished.:cheer:

I am hoping to get up there and help ya guys--I owe some payback for using the area :awesomework:

I know everything and my opinion is the only one that matters......Just a little something I learned from my ex wife.:haha:

Just kidding. I don't have all of the answers, I'm just someone who makes sure everyone knows my opinion.:redneck:

Please carry on...and Matt, STFU means shut the **** up......just a definition, not relaying any messages.
:corn:

So I'm confused...

Walker is an ORV park, meaning it carries government backing.

Therefore any person destroying any trail, log block offs (with proper signage), signs etc should have a punishment if caught. I also assume this "ticket" and or "no-tresspassing" order is already on the books just waiting to be given out.

The government wants money? give it some. Nail the offenders to the wall.

It could be very very easy to make damn sure nobody chain saws logs or creates go arounds. Word spreads quick when you start castrating trouble makers.

I don't think more Gestapo style crackdowns on their part is the answer... I think more leniency, and less nit picking on their part is the answer.

ITS JUST DIRT.

It's not as simple as you might think. They can fine for resourse damage but other than that there's not much.

All right i cleaned out a bunch of the bickering personal crap. Please keep it civil and on topic if you wish to participate in this thread :awesomework:

Sorry, I guess I was a little rude about my first reply. Here is some constructive infos...

Talked with Elyse last week, and we decided to postpone fixing it until the snow was gone. At this point it might be March 5th, we'll see.

We will be clearing a path around the left side of the rock, and stacking a barrier to indicate where the trail is. This should allow people to easily get around the left side. We will assess how 'soft' the left side is, and if it will need to be hardened. If so, it will be discussed at the DNR meeting the following week (which I'll be absent from since I'm in Chicago).. then volunteers will be tasked with bringing up some rock to make sure the go around stays in-tact. Basically we're aiming to make it look similar to the egg bypass at the top of the trail.

As for the bypass.... we will be placing 'no vehicles' signs on both sides and repairing any damage (if any) caused since the last work party.

There are a few other impovements we need to make to this trail, but all-in-all its not doing that bad. Closure is not immient. And I've heard many compliments regarding how nice and challenging walker has been this winter.
