I think he should have let it go at the $61.6 thats big high roller stupid dough.

Again, if he did not sell that for 61K he is a moron. That auction smells of "My reserve is 65K, bid me up"

Not that I have not used that same ploy on a number of occasions, I just have a hard time believing that weak ass Ebay ad is going to sell that fine ass truck. It will take someone that puts his/her hands on it and realizes what kind of workmanship went into it.

Yeah pics larger than a thumbnail help sell. Can't imagine what he has into that rig, but 61K would been a nice amount to put back into you account and buy a 30K rig and have plenty for some hookers and a lot of blow.

I am surprised it got that much, that sale add was not very informative. For rigs like that the info you give and the for sale adds go a long way. Detailed pics and all the specs help a ton

For some reason I thought I read somewhere that it was about a 35-40K rig when built, but that might have been woodlee not taking much for labor. Parts aren't that bling, the craftsmanship is. My guess is that was with his labor. 1.5x+ on your money plus wheeling it is good.

The rerserve was set at 62,000. His son got mad at him when he put the truck on e bay so he told him if it didn't bring the reserve he wouldn't sell it. No matter what.

He said there wasn't any bid driving that he knew of. So it did go that high.

You guys can say what you want and think what you want but Donald said he didn't have to sell this truck and he still likes it. So he will ride some more in it and proably still build a buggy when he is ready.

I personaly think it is awsome that people can get a good amount of their money back out of a project when it is done right. It makes you feel like your not just waisting your money and what you are building is worth some thing.

that's one of the worst things about building a one off custom rig like that. you NEVER get you money back out. I was so far beyond shocked that it went that high because of what other rigs are going for. That is not a knock on your skill level compared to anyone elses. I personally feel that you put out some of the best work in the country detail wise. what that statement is saying is that you normally see a rig that there is 40K in going for 25K. it is almost never a money making proposition when you sell a one off used rig. that it went that high is amazing and a feather in your cap. keep up the good work and we all look forward to seeing your next creation.

btw, he needs to get into a buggy. cab's are too fragile laughing thumb.gif

They way I look at it that truck will appeal to the show-truck guys as well, who are willing to spend waaay more $$. I really see it bringing more than $62k with the right buyer.

It says a lot about your level of work Woodlee, and that is that you do exception work. Nothing hack, and therefore the premium carried through.

So you are saying he got a legitimate bid of $400 less than his $62,000 reserve and he is not going to swing a deal with that person?

Adam, please don't take my comments as a shot at the rig or your craftmanship, but that is hard for me to swallow.

Whatever. I don't even know why I care. Merry Christmas all.....

I cant believe it got that high myself :o
Shoulda sold it for sure and build a buggy the way he wants. Not downing the rig at all, its awesome!, just in shock it got so high in the bidding.

No offense taken at all.

I have realy been interested in this because it kind of gives me the point to say you can get a good amount of your investment back on a project.

I would be beating a path to that guys door over 400 dollars but Donald promised his son if it didn't bring the reserve then he wouldn't sell it. I can understand and respect that.

( before seeing all the posts after the bid )

I was just discussing the market for one off rigs today matter of fact. The bigger picture is that people are starting to recognize and appreciate what it takes to build vehicles of these sorts. Says alot of your work Adam, and alot for the direction of recreational wheeling in general.

Hell we have had several threads on the boards about buggies and rigs selling lately and what folks are getting for them recently. Good stuff
