But yes ARB's require MORE preload on the side bearings

I got in a big pissin' match with TechTim over on Snort when I said this exact quote.

His contention was that it doesn't require "MORE" preload, but rather it requires the "CORRECT" preload.

But we pissed and moaned at each other for awhile.

Anyhow, I prefer Detroit, and TechTim works for ARB.

And I know ARB makes good quality stuff, they work well, and they stand behind their stuff. But make sure you've got the "CORRECT" preload.

ahhh, i remember that so well, seeing as how it was mine at the time that blew up:haha: i am curious to see how it's holding up now. i probably need to reset and preload the case (it was a little loose last time.)

now that's not good

Just for the record. Lockers in genral don't like bent housings. Not just ARB's.

Figure out if your housing is bent with a good set of feeler gauges. The gap should be close to the same top and bottom on the carrier bearings.

Your housing may be bent but I doubt it's your problem. Front housings are much more forgiving because of the full floating design of the inner axle shafts. If your preload is loose that's the root of the problem along with poor design and the simple fact that it's a D30.:flipoff:
