Wheel adapter questions

Just run 8-lug wheels in the front and 5x4.5 wheels in the back. If you carry a spare, make it 8-lug and buy 1 adapter in case you need to put the spare on the back. If you had bought bias tires then you wouldn't have to worry about the spare. :flipoff:

I'm going to get the solid spacers.

This is a temp fix until I get some shafts made and do some fancy work to move the brakes around to the backside of the flange so I can run 8 lug wheels.

Do you have a link to the 1-piece adapters? I'm curious how they get around the hole overlap issue.

You might also want to double check on getting shafts made. As far as I know, no one makes 8x6.5 semi-float shafts because the flange on the forgings is too small.

I'm sure Dutchman or other companies can make me what I need. All I would have to do is bolt the 8.8 brake rotor onto the back of the flange and bolt the wheel up normally.

Here's the link to the spacers. There is plenty of room on there for the conversion. I'm sure this is just a stock photo and not an actual photo of the prroduct. http://www.airbagit.com/Billet-Wheel-Adapters-Adaptors-Spacers-p/aa-5450-8650-5-8lp.htm

You really should double check on that before planning on it.

No doubt, I've made that type of mistake before...

Personally I'd junk the 8.8 now and get it over with. Drop a real axle in the rear so it'll hold up. You know now that there is a decent axle out front you'll drive like an asshat because you won't be worrying about the front anymore and waste the rear.
