Where were you when the world stopped turning?

I was trimming out some colunms and kept wondering why the plumbers were just sitting in their truck. Finally one said that a plane had hit one of the towers. I was like "ya right". Then he said that one tower collapsed. I still didn't really believe him and thought it was some radio joke. Later I left to go do some estimates, I called the first guy and asked if he still wanted me to come out. He said "sure why not" I thought odd, oh well went out and he didn't even know what was happening untill I told him. I remember the shock on his face when he turned on the tv. He was devistated. The next week or so I was steadily checking the news reports to see if any survivors had been found.
I was watching a recap on I believe the discovery channel today. I still get lump in my throat when I see footage.

was at work at fort mccellan al. they shut the whole base down. was so pissed at the **** it took to get in the next day. was even more pissed at the s.o.bs that caused us all this pain and heartache. R.I.P all the firefighters & police for doing there jobs.

I was in 10th grade in 1st block "weightlifting" when the first plane hit. We went to secont block which was my drafting "auto cad" class when the 2nd one hit. We sat in there and watched most of it. The school wanted all the teachers to turn it off but my drafting teacher did not and let us do some drawing and watch the news. I still am thankful to this day that we got to watch on tv. A lot of my class mates missed the hole thing. History went down that day and my drafting teacher knew the importance of it while it was going on and left the news on for us

i was working as a residental electrican at the time....we were pulling wires in the attic of this old ladies house when she started screaming....so we came down and watched tv with her for like 2 hours.....i will never forget watching the second plane hit that tower.....my hat goes off to the brave and innocent people that lost there lives taht day

Iwas working at the brentwood indoor sports complex which was still under construction back in the tennis bldg.
heard about it on the radio and listened all day.
when I got home turned on the tv and seen it for the 1st time and seen the devastation and couldnt believe it
kind of like being in shock and couldn't turn it off

I was working at TOCCO in Boaz at the time. News of the first plane was perceived as a mistake, the second as some type of suicide mission. When we found out about the Pentagon we knew our nation was under attack. I worked with many war veterans. Their reactions to the news sent me into the thoughts of possibly defending our country on our own soil. Many thoughts and wonders went through my mind in the following days, weeks, and years to come. A very sad day. A day that will future generations will learn about in history class. Something very similar to incidents in our history that I thought I would never experience. I was wrong!

It was my last semester of college. I had gotten up and went to the commons room at the fraternity to eat some breakfast before work. Couldn't believe what was going on. Went to work and we listened to the radio all day and tried to watch the TV once in a while. The boss kept telling us to get back to work. I was checking Pirate every 5 mins to get updates. I learned more on PBB before the local tv had it there.

My best friend had just joined the Marines right before that and I was worried about what would happen with him. He did spend 2 tours in Iraq but came home safe. The thought of that day and what happened makes me very emotional still. This is my generations Pearl Harbor. I remember the Challenger explosion and 9/11 and won't forget what I was doing when either happened.

First job, worked at compass bank. First plane hit. As I was getting out of my car. 2nd hit and we knew it was war. I worked on the trading floor so we al huddled around the tv's. It was a weird day, I remember wondering what buildings were next once the Pentagon was hit. I left work early and watched TV non stop for the next few days. When I watch the footage I still find it amazing all the people that went into those buildings to do their jobs, only to die when they collapsed. I remember the country coming together and feeling glad to be an American again. If you have not watched United 93 I recommend doing so, it gives you a lot of pride for what those people did.

Montrose Missouri, replacing two 48" intake water valves at the power plant. Known joker we work with comes over to the valve pit to tell me and my partner we are being attacked and they are bombing New York City, we proceeded to tell him to :gtfo:, the pit was misserable enough without his clowning around! Break time rolls around 10:00 am and we stroll into the shack where we take a break and everyone is gathered around a radio listening, we ask what the hell is is up and Tommy jumps out of the crowd yelling " I told you two ****ers we are being attacked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Travelers from Georgia freaking out ready to hook up campers and haul ass home!

Lesson learned, don't send the local wise ass to inform others of a national emergency :****:

Thoughts and Prayers to all of you who knew someone who became an innocent victim that horrific day.

Just another beutiful morning , in the back shop by my uncles lift with the doors open shootin the **** waitin on parts to show up when all the sudden the

little radio playin on his work bench got our attention,so we turned it up, and when the second plane hit we moved to the tv in the front office.

Yes....I,m STILL MAD as well.

Those middle eastern people are a desease this planet could do without.

Tues morning got up getting ready to head out in the tool truck. Watchin the news as I put my boots on and seen it all unfold!!! I was in disbelief when I reliazed what was happening. First emotion was scared, second was very shocked this could be happening to this great country, 3rd I was pissed as Dr **** said if I'd had a button I would have really made history that day, 4th was to go enlist or not. The thought of enlistment hadn't crossed my mind since high school, but that day and the next few weeks weighed very heavy upon me. I regret at times for not doing it but on the same token I wouldn't have my wonderful son that turns 7 on Monday.

RIP all the Brave souls that protect us day to day and the one who made the Ultimate Sacrifice for us to be able to set here and disscuss this!!!

College. My cousin and I were getting ready to head to campus when he flipped the TV on and we saw the second one hit. I thought it was a movie, there was no way that was real. He kept saying come in here and look at this and I kept blowing him off, seriously, there is no way that is ****ing real
I went to my next class after that, everyone was in shock. The teacher was an Afganistani, he was really broken up. He was saying that there was no reason to go nuke the country he was from as it was already war ravaged from the CIA planting terrorists there to **** with Russia during the cold war, and the people have nothing. Just a ****ed up day.

I was working as a residential electrician, pullin wire in an apartment complex. I had already joined the national guard and figured I would be getting a call sometime soon. surprisingly, I didnt get a call for a few years and never did an overseas tour.....now I am in TX, 10 years later training to goto that sandbox....

I just dropped off a family at the Frankfurt airport in Germany, the soldier was going stateside to the next duty station. I was listening on the radio, (at 3 or 4 in the afternoon, their time), and thought "this is a ****ed up joke!", and turned it off. Getting back on post, the MPs were searching every car, but I had forgotten about the radio news. I get into the battery and everybody is watching the tv, (it's 5pm by now), and platoon sgt hangs up the phone and says, full battle rattle, weapons and 90 rounds, be back here in 30 minutes. On guard duty for 48 hours straight before I even knew what the **** was going on.

When I seen the spooks looting after Katrina, I made a connection to 9/11, where cities were laid waste, peoples entire lives were uprooted, and these moocher ****s had the Goddamn balls to take what was left as if it belonged to them? I would have treated each ****ing one of them to a .308 round to the head, just as if they were a 9/11 hijacker!

At home coloring my neighbors hair, we both stood in disbelief for about half an hour in front of th tv then went to the school to bring our kids home. Not sure why really, just wanted them close by.
She was in 1st grade at the time and still remembers the eerie mood of the day.

At work in Jacksonville Fl. I was listening to Lex and Terry when the news broke. I had no way to see on a TV what was going on but they covered it well.

Was walking through Lowes getting supplies for a telecom installation we where doing and some random guy says "a plane just hit the world trade center" we have a big world trade center in downtown Dallas so I assumed it was a cessna in Dallas, we got back to the central office where all the Southwestern Bell employees and subcontractors where huddled around a small tv then we seen the 2nd plane hit, I thought it was a replay. Got home that night and told my girlfriend (now my wife) that i was going to re enlist (Air Force F15E weapons) and load as many bombs and missiles I could for our country but she talked me down, I am very surprised I didn't get recalled and I would have chest held high stepped up and done my duties, I was pissed first scared later!

Sophomore year of High School in Charlotte. Was in my first period PE Class when the first one hit. Walked into my second period English class and the teacher had the news on and the second plane hit just as I sat down at my desk. My cousin was on an early morning flight out of Boston-Logan to Florida that morning so we had no clue if he was ok or not when they released word that the flights were hijacked out of the same airport. His flight ended up being ok but he was able to see the smoke and everything as his flight passed thru the NYC area because they had not yet shut down the air space.

I remember the first time I went and visited my girlfriend after she started Law school in NYC. We were standing on the top of the Hudson Hotel knocking back a few with some friends and they had the WTC Memorial lights on. Its one of those things that just stops you in your tracks.

sitten in 9th grade math class looking at petersons offroad mag. ( jus like i did everyday) they instructed to not turn on tv but teacher did anyways.. will always remember it
