which housing d60?

Why not straighten your bent axle?

Cuz its ****ed to the point of leaking oil.

some bent thangs arent made for straitenen.
This is one of those things

Well if not spending a fortune is the theme which it seems to be, then how about re-tubing it? Still way cheaper than building another.
I am scared to use it cuz it looks like alot of the smile is in the third member area too.

For the record those of us who have spent a small fortune to build/make a durable 60 have never had any regrets
I am leaning in that direction, I think.

I think more of these used axles are bent than people realize. If you saw how much mine was bent you'd be impressed.

Mine is out about 5/8 of an inch. The tires are tipped in like a lowered VW bug. Its bad. Even my girl pointed at it and said, "WOW thats really bent!".

I had Dean try to straighten a bent Dodge 60 front housing that JAWS bought and the casting broke. For an aftermarket housing I would recommend a Currie Rock Jock, they have an aluminum version, imported cast and domestic cast. If you want to know more about them call and talk to Dean from Bent Metal Customs, he has built alot of axles with RJ centers.

The HP 60 in the front of the Oldsmobile was a bent 1991 Ford housing I saved from the shredder at Schnitzer, straightened, shortened and put some long gussets on it.

Bent Ford 60s are really common because the castings are thinner then the Dodge/Chevys. Same with the knuckles.

The rockjock III is the cheapest at $699 http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/Products4x4.aspx?id=2758

I'm not sure what the difference is between the rjII and rjIII.

FWIW, I can do RockJock centers (bare) for $500.

The RockJock II is cast domestically, and the RockJock III is import, but honestly I've seen (Through Dean at Bent Metal Customs) less casting issues with the import centers than the domestics, AND they're less money.

Is this for your buggy?

Trust me this is not by choice and my wallet does not agree with me at all.

I was finishing up the front brackets on my 60 front in the buggy and nothing would fit right:mad:, ends up its bent pretty badly.:mad:

I have already built everything to work with an 67 inch wide front and have a 65 wide rear.

I have a chevy housing but dont want the front end 4 inches wider than the rear and just dont want it that wide.

If I am going to be cutting and turning the knuckles I might aswell use a ford HP center and get the driveline up off the lower link and get a stronger ring gear too.

An aftermarket housing was never in the plan but is comparable to a whole donor ford front.:booo:

Why change knuckles? I dont have that kind of loot.

I am going to be using a BENT dodge D61 as a donor for my Cs, knuckles and outers. Its an internal hub version. 3 inch tube

:redneck:
