hell yeah get your **** fixed right, because im sure im gonna have to get me one pretty soon to, so fix your and ill drive it to figure out what i want thumb.gif

Cole my steering is 2.75 lock to lock. I have checked it several times. Feels good at speed and I like it.

there you go P one like matts you need to get it because if you dont ill buy it :dunno: i need a good one

make sure the orbital from PSC is a danfoss unit and not a cheap ass chink unit.
exactly what is your cylinder bore x stroke x rod? how many turns do you want exactly?
like 2.25x8x 1" rod you have
2.25x.5 squaredx3.14x8=31.7925 CI on the non rod side minus
6.28 ci of rod is 25.512 on the rod side
if you want 2 turns lock to lock you'll have 12 CI on the little and that makes 2.5 on the big with a single ender. check my math, I'm doing it fast on my phone.

Hell now Im tryin to decide just how much ! lock to lock I want... you guys are almost to helpful today laughing1

Im tired of the input required to turn mine with the sturrin quickner already ( yes you all told me so... I was being a cheap ass at the time, no worries ) and I want to get it a little faster even still, so I suppose I need to make a good decision and do it 1 more time this time. laughing1

I think i'd like being at 1.5 lock to lock like Greg is talking about, I havent driven his but have ridden in it and it seemed like he got around with very little effort when we were baja 'in his outta the trail system at Chocco locco.

Hmmmm so the higher " c.i. " number will net me quicker lock to lock I assume ? I 've never done the math or tried to purchase a new orbital so Im stupid when it comes to the subject matter. laughing1

I got a 7.6 ci and its supposed to be 3.5 turns lock to lock with a 2.5" DE ram

yes paul, that CI number is cubic inches per revolution. if your ram is indeed the size that I put down it has 31 cubic inches of fluid on the side of the piston that doesn't have the rod in it. if it is 31 Cubic "s, for 2 turns you need a 15.5 cu/in ram. that would make your little side 25.5/15.5= 1.645 turns from full right to full left turn. I feel that 1.6 is too fast, I like 2, but that's me.
figure out your ram size. bore / 2 x 3.14 x stroke = ram volume on the big side, then take the rod size/ 2 x 3.14 x stroke = rod volume, and subtract that from the big side number for when the rod is in the body. then take that volume number and average them if you want and take that number / number of turns you want.

I think the best for all around use would be 1.75 to 2 turns lock to lock. I think once you start getting less than that it will be touchy at speed. With my 2.0" bore cheapo ram it was twitchy at speed. The bigger bore ram I have now fixed that issue but it also slowed the lock to lock down some. Definately do what kelly said and look up the specs on your ram. Length, bore and shaft diameter. Hell give that info to PSC and tell them how many turns you want and they will set you straight.

I need to verify my ram, I think its 2x8 as I recall been so long since I bought it I forgot... also need to decide on revolution's .

Options options, here I was ready to just order a part and be done with it then you got me getting all calculating and doing **** proper... laughing1

Just do it right the first time. I had one that steered to quick and at times I have to get on the road for a little piece. I chose the one that I have 2.5 turns lock to lock. I can run down the road at 50 and feel safe but then it does great on the rocks as well. I have the 2x8 DE PSC Ram.

P your ram is the same as mine 2.5" bore by 8" stroke. I think the shaft is 1.25" also. I would stay in the 2 turns lock to lock range. Best bet IMO

Go down to Dan's and mat the SOB in the lot and crank it hard. It really doesn't seem that fast, I have driven it on the street before and it's under control when I'm sober. :drinkers:

It was up in the air at lunch and will be done today. Here's one for the Swanny, how do you split/ crack the ball inside a heim joint? New one on me. :dunno:

paul, you better look. I'm pretty sure your ram is bigger than 2", at least 2.25. Maybe even 2.5 like matt said. I remember looking at it and thinking damn, what a big body for a smaller rod. I think your rod is 1" but I haven't see it in a while if you know what I mean.
