alright this is not a thread about rope vs cable this is simply a thread about what people use to keep there cable from rusting.

I replaced the cable with rope, ended the rust issue.

Hose it down with WD40 once in a while.

I have rope on da buggy too but on the international dt466 flat bed at work the cable is getting crusty so time to spray it down with some wd40 I was going to try some boshield.

Beat me to it....Could you make a cover so it doesnt get rained on??Like on hinges or some shizzy??

I wonder how much 304ss cable is a feet

I dought a cover will help the winch is in the open and gets used everyday. dam hydralic winchs friggin yank hard.

How many hours a day though...a cover would help.

EDIT. OH CRAP...i'll mail the clevis today. Thanks again

I've never done any kind of preventive rust maintenace for my cable. Not a speck of rust on it. I just hose off the mud..

jsut hose it down with PB-Blaster. Works awesome. Or like earlier said. Astro-Glide works pretty good too

Reading comprehension POOP...Its a cable on the back of a tow truck. I think a nice stainless hinged cover that was electropolished would look banging.
