Winch help

But it's not working 100%. It would seem the Armature post coming out of the motor isn't working that great, if you move or twist the cable it stops working. All three of the studs don't seem tight. It also sounds like it is draging or straining when you power in.

If mounted foot forward in the ARB bumper it is very important on the 9.5XP (if it has not already been done) to pull the motor and clear the silicone from the drain channel in the drum support. When mounting it foot forward the blocked drain channel points down which means the motor would need to fill half way up with water before it will drain. Allowing water to sit in the motor will ruin it.

You sir are the winner........

I pulled the motor off and everything inside is badly corroded. I see the drain channels and was also wondering if there is suppose to be a seal between the mounting surface and winch?

Before you go buying a new motor, you should see if you have any places nearby who service auto electric stuff... starters, alternators, etc. I had "Auto Electric Rebuilders" over here in Wenatchee go through the motor for my 8274 and clean it up (was pretty gnarly inside like yours) and replace one of the posts that was broken, and it only cost me about 45.00 and some change.

I just dropped it off with the guy who rebuilds/rewinds our electric motors in the shop. He said he can clean it up and make it better than new.:awesomework:
