Window Nets

I am going to put them in any buggy I build from now on. They are just safe to have. I will mount them so they fold down by the seat and floor board out of the way but can be used any time. The way we are driving faster and taking harder impacts all the way around we have to keep safety in our minds all the time.

After driving a rig with them it is a good safe feeling to have that net there. It just eases your mind and lets you worry more about GETIN IT.

Matt just try to mount them clean and where they can be out of the way but easily used when you want them. If they are not easily used then you won't use them.

I like that idea, I really need to get a tape meaasuare out and start measuring and thinking. I have two problems, my door bars are lower for easy entry which means a big damn window to cover. 2nd problem is that the bottom bar is shaped like a V, so the bottom edge will be wierd.

Anybody have ideas for my setup? Based on the rules for the race (fixed side can be removable mount like hose clamps, non-fixed side must have welded tabs. Based on that I was thinking a custom net in the shape of my opening that has grommets that I can run hose clamps on the bottom side. Top side be the non-fixed in and run a latch style mount. I will just have to make the rod longer to work with my window. The top would be the non-fixed in and I could drop it and let it hang outside the car for entry and exit. That is the way I am leaning right now. Going PRP, just need to decide on mounting types and send the template.

Rule book for KOH:
7.1.1: Window nets (both sides if you have a passenger riding on course during race) Single seat vehicles will have to have nets on both sides period. Attachment points must be welded tabs, holes drilled in the cage material- will NOT be allowed. Non removal able end (top or bottom) may be attached using screw type hose clamps.

Id feel saver in your unit if we put a removable bar across it like a traditional comp rig to keep us inside it and window net it with "standard type nets.

Youd have to do "comp" skin sides though to cover up that gap between removable toob and the toob pre-existing.

Be safest way though and would resolve the silly custom net stuff that you will rarely use. :afro:

Cannot do an off the shelf net, the window has to be completely covered (IE no way for your hand to get outside the vehicle) that is per Big Rich. The width of my windows (41") require a custom net regardless, even if my door opening was a perfect square. So that rules out the smaller (Standard size nets).

Also adding in the cost of those removable tube clamps make it more expensive. Those things are $30/each. That is $120 in those, which is the cost of custom nets alone.

Sounds like you already have your answer son, all you gotta do is spend money now ! laughing1
