Chasman--even though you would come closer to getting your money out of your rear hp60, if you went the lp60 route you could use the arb. High/Low 60's use different gears not carriers.

Brian

Thanks for the information Brian. I did not think about the ARB being reused, but I truely would rather just go with a whole new 14 bolt from scratch and sell out the Hp set up as a whole unit. I would like to go with a Detroit in the rear and do away with all the air lines and all since this buggy was originally was set up with cutting brakes and the ARB useage was maximized. I now have the point and shoot style driving (probably why I keep breaking my junk) and with new 44's will keep it that way with this buggy for awhile. thumb.gif

I am pretty sure for the HP application you use the 4.10 and down ARB, which means when you swap to a LP it will not work with a 4.56 or up LP gears. That is how mine is anyways.

hey chase as u now i run a lp60 with spool and 5.13 and of course i mall crawl rite but my point is ive only broke one seat in 1.5 years

Yah, but you drive like a girl. :flipoff1:

I thought you ran a welded 70? :dunno:

I'm running a 10.25 sterling welded with Yukon 5.38's, beat the hell out of it with no issues. If I were to go with another rear it would be a D70U, stout and the pinion is up high. I know of a jeep with one and I think Tom Wayes was running one in his red Trent buggy-beat that thing like it owed him money.

we've had bad luck out of yukon gears lately. i think we have tore 3 R&Ps out of daddy's buggy in the past 6 months, he tore out another one at gray rock this weekend.

I wonder if it would help to get the R & P's cryo treated. Longfield does it for 45 bucks. I was going to get my 60 r & p done and my detriot

In my opinion, YES. My first set were Superior cryo treated in the rear of mine and lasted 3-4 years after I bought it and treated it like a rental. Then I broke them and have had untreated YUKAK's put in and since and have gone through 3 sets. I am switching back to Superior's this time and having them frozen like Walt Disney. molaugh

he's running a 70 rear

I run a stock dana rear 70 welded with yukon 6.17s.... Ima go on a limb and say Im a little bit harder on it than chris. I would look into sayn the gears may not be set up right. And as far as axles go, i run stock 35 spline shafts with no problems.

the gear set didn't break. it was all the broken axle parts that got into R&P that messed it up. as far as the axles , i have broke 2 and twisted 2. the axles giving up is whats causing the other problems.

Then id try stock 70 shafts. I broke yukon crap in my old setup... Ran a bullshit 70 shaft cut down with a spacer for an emergency and couldnt break it. :****:

i guess i'll try them. i've got about 4 sets of stock ones, just been afraid to run em

i run stock shafts in my 70 rear and have more hp than Chris and JR combined :flipoff1: and i have yet to break one :****:

ok so the first parts a lie ;D

If you decide to sell the HP ARB shoot me a price. I have a lockrite in the front, but I'd like to have an ARB.

14's man. Cheap and easy. Once you drop a shave kit in the bottom (which is now painless and quick with instructions :flipoff1:) you're set. Depending on what gears, I've been able to get the whole rear for $350 with 4.56's and a detroit out of a cucv. That's less than a fawking locker is used. :woody:

this thread gives me warm fuzzies about the $1500 worth of Yukon axles/joints going in my axles.

Epic Fail. If you have 1500k in axles and joints I do feel bad for you. You can get a set of RCV's for $1700 or so on one of their group buys...
