If they are bobby's chromo 30 splines to retain the warrantee on them you must run his hub gears....

If you break them or the axles they are covered. But if your stock hub gear breaks an takes the spline off the birf, that is not covered unless it is our hub gears then it would be covered.

Don't cool the axle with water. You want the axle to cool as slowly as possible. When you use water to cool the axle you cause it to shrink at a very rapid rate. Weld in a criss-cross pattern with short stitch welds and let it air cool for a few minutes between each weld.
I use the one 2" weld one beer method.

Its also a good idea to weld a small section and wrap it in a welding blanket and let it cool slower/stronger = "more beers" inbetween welds.
