so does anyone know if there is any trails for wheeling up towards galagher by salmon la sac.. i thought i heard someone talking about it before..

Yes the area is closed durring "snow" for the snow park. But there is an old jeep trail up there if I remember it correctly.

I always thought Salmon la sac was a town but it is a dead end road with a campground/snowpark/hiking trailhead. I have been snowmobiling over there, lots of places to go. It is funny going anywhere you want off road in a snowmobile. You just make your own lines through the woods. Totally different than the 4x4 trails around here.

we make a trip up there every memorial weekend. there usually still alot of snow but it is really wet and there are alot of creeks up there running under the snow that you cant see. matter of fact i have a pic of such incident

ya i thought i had heard of some rock sections up top but not sure..
i know it is a snowpark in the winter i have a cabin up at big boulder creek about five miles up the mountain towards galagher but have never ventured off to far

Van Epps and Gallagher Head are excellant trails for stock rigs. Unless there is snow the trails offer no challenge. There are great camping spots and views. The area does see frequent Forest Service patrols and is being closely watched by the WTA. The WTA has dreams of turning the area into Non-motorized and is working the system to do just that. Stay tuned!!

if your up here memorial weekend i can stop by on are way up so you can see for your self. definately not hardcore by any meens. but there is the old road to galagher. that is really fun when there is a bunch of snow on it.

If its the area I remember, out Salmon-la-sack I remember going up there camping/wheeling with Toylet and a couple buddies few year back. This was during the summer.

Couple places you needed 4wd, already with old-skool open/open rigs and before we could drive decent. But cool place and trails that wound up the mountain side (bare and open) with mine shafts to check out dotted all over.

I definitely would want to head out there again, but I thought I heard it was all closed/gated now. Maybe I'm thinking of a different fork.

IIRC we went up Salmon-la-Sac road past lake Cle Elum, to the north end, then continued up the road north along the river that feeds the lake. I think it turned into a gravel road with some cabins and various camp sites scattered here and there.

Cool and fun area, but its been MANY years since I ran up that way... be fun to do it again.

I made a few trips up to Gallagher Head back in 2002 & 2003...we took the girlfriend's stock TJ & had no issues:

I was riding up there this weekend, very scenic area.

The guys from S&S Aqua Logging live in Roslyn. :haha:

Riding what?

That green thing in the garage. In the winter time alot of the roads the in that area are closed to wheeled vehicles and snowmobiles are everywhere. 60 mph on a sled through the woods is a blast! :D
