Yeah toe in helps also :flipoff1:

Cole, do two things so we can compare notes. 1st measure your turns lock to lock and then measure the distance the ram is traveling. Just make a mark on the shaft and see if you are using all of it.

I was told 3 to 4 turns lock to lock is better for high speed. I know that 5 is too slow! I would like to be 3.5 or so

Aight, maybe we can get daniel to do this because I won't be back to the shop for a few days. Start midnights tomorrow and I don't do a whole lot when on that shift.

Jim/cole, how many deg caster you got. how much toe you going to put in it at the rim lip? 1/8"ish?

Man I don't have a clue. I was just going to adjust the tierods a little and see what happened.

Well pulled the axle shaft out. This isn't what I expected to see.
Anybody ever seen a shaft bend like this?
Also it destroyed the bearing and we had to beat the shaft out.

Also it twisted the splines. Remember this is a 40 spline shaft.

Congrats! I've yet to bend one like that. I've got a pile of 35 spline shafts twisted like that(one about 3 spline over), but have never broken one.
BTW...if they are Mosers, they are junk...or at least the two sets I got from them were.

Semi float baby. Tire hits and the axle and bearing take it all. I bet that tire was 40" wide on the ground from the wobble.

Put that thing back together and buy my housing and start over. Go 40 spline FF. Use your center.

Toddy

Yeah it crushed the bearing. I had a hard time getting the bearing out, there were little pieces of it all over. Had to dig out the ball bearings before it would come out.

Housing looks good, Chase is checking on a shaft for me.
This axle will be forsale in the next month or so. I have something in the works that should be pretty trick.
