I would think that you would take adam a check for 15K and tell him to start...and that's his fee. You bring parts to him as needed or all at once. Plan on 40K all done with badass parts. 30K with some skimping.

You are close my friend. By the end of June I will have an entire drivetrain and most everything I need.
Hey don't forget my trans.

Yeah but what hard parts did you start with? Cole starts with a clean slate.
This is very true but I did calc in the cost of the engine when i built it and the cost of the 60 when I bought it. I woulda made it under 15K which is honestly the entire figure I dreamed of getting under a few years back when I started thinking buggy.

You also have the ability and tools to fab on your own. Most of us can't just build a rig from scratch. If you factor in your time and consumable (what you pay for when you pay labor) that number goes up a lot. When I wanted to build one my target number was 35k for a turn-key, my tally of parts/labor was actually around 30k though so I may have done better. In the end I went with a cheaper and better option for me, buy already built ;D Saved me tons of time and money

Damn.....wrote my final check last night and the above amount is how far OVER budget I went laughing1

I have a feeling I will be in the same boat. I am glad I could help you spend that money though. Gotta love them Rock Bouncers :flipoff1:

Yeah P you already had some of the hard parts and you can build your own stuff. I can't fab and I will admit it, I am not ashamed of it. The one thing I can do is work OT and that helps out and I am a cheap bastard when it comes to other things.

I had grandious plans to build my own.
HA LOL!
I have the skill and yeah the tools as well. But I lack that one really important part after you have the money for all the parts.......TIME.
I barely have time to maintain my junk, so buy was the only way once I opened my eyes and realized it.

Wyatt....that is funny. Some poor guys take 3-4 yrs to build their own rig and it is outdated 1/2 way thru the build.

I kept adding stuff on mine that I was going to do myself....now I think all that will be left for me to do is peel te fuc out :)

It will be getting torn down for powder/paint in about a week :giddy:

I was ribbing ya Cole, hell your doing whats best for you, I had to do what was "best" for me. Spend all my time and as little money as I could laughing1

Yeah Sceep comes to mind with his GravelMaker build.

Time or money? Wait Time is Money...... :dunno:

So thats how you went $10k over...... Did you get $10k worth of value out of their work, plus your time not working on it. Yeah I suspect you did, so win win.

Not to mention that thing is absoluelty ugly as hell...

I think I am getting my moneys worth, yes.

I spent a lot of that money on more beef . 40 spline gun drilled axles with a Mega 9 cost me about 2k extra...

I bought 2 more tires/wheels so I can have water/non water tires.

I had to buck up for a Paule paint job and I spent a little to make it unique.....

Only way I could get back into this hobby is to buy something, then I'd be too broke to travel to use it. Once I win the lottery I'll make Nolen jelous in an overbuilt rig with non driving skillz. molaugh

The first thing I found out about this sport is you can never build it for what you can buy it for. What P did is something I do not know many people that has the skills for and it come out looking as good as it did. I can fab just enough to fix what I break. I would not know where to start building a rig.
