So we are getting more parts collected for the wifes SAS on her 4 runner.

So I am having a hard time deciding between a 4 or 5" spring.

We have a set of 35's for it and would like to end up with 36's.

So the key is I want minimal cutting on the body to get them to fit. This will stay on the pavement most of time with an occasional snow run.

This is her baby and she has always wanted a rig that looked good and lifted.

4"springs gets you 5" of lift...

ive got 4"springs, and 2" shackles on my 85 runner, with 35's. they SLIGHTLY rub at MAX travel, at full lock. i wouldnt be able to run any taller of a tire....well, IN town, maybe, but id have to be careful dropping off curbs, and driveways.

I am looking at 4 inch front and 5 inch rear springs for my SAS that I am planing, the 5 inch for the extra weight in the back and all the trail junk I pack around.

I am curious what you are using for parts? are you making your own?

I will be building everything due to the ARB bumper--a typical crossmember won't work.

what yr of runner is it?

87'

so the same wheel openings ive got.
well, im sitting on 6", with 35's. i could probably squeeze a 36", but not a mud tread...

Go 4"............................

wait..............................................

I know nothing about toyota, its your best guess.

Imo

Given the choice, go with the 5" spring, sure be a bitch to go to all that work and not have enough clearance.
Looks like the other 'Yota guys concur.

It will look badass lifted and bigger shoes...the wife deserves it too!

check out my build on my daily driver. I used a 4 inch chevy spring for the front. Its not as flexy as some of the aftermarket toy springs, but I didnt want it to have much flex. I have actually been surprised at how much they do flex though. I wanted it to be stiffer for driving on the street with good manners. My girl drives it alot and it only gets beat in the mud and snow mostly and will get romped int the sand sometimes.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I clear 37 inch boggers with no problems (my axle is moved foward 2 inches).:awesomework:
those measure small tho...dont they? *guess not*
edit: 36.8 for the bogger. and 34.7 for the BFG's im running...
38.3 for the SX's

my axle is in the OE position still.
i did run my 38.5 SX's, but with the offset rims, they rubbed BAD. no flex, just turning. flexing would have ripped the fenders off.

I am running 4" TG springs on 6" TG shackles with 35's

I used to rub only when full stuffed with full lock on the trail

Then I went nuts with the sledge and the sawzall.

on the 79?
theyve got different wheel openings. usually fit a larger tire with a bit less lift....
