Good ahead and pony up for what you really want, it will save money in the long run and everytime you look at it you won't be kicking yourself in the :butt:

Pick up a cheap 5.3 from Holmann build your buggy. You can always get your money back out of a good LS. Plus you get a free handy from Holm with every motor.

I'd have to build a rig with a dirt cheap high mile 4.8/5.3, get my dual steering pumps, coolant connections, headers, fuel system, oil pan/oil system, wiring harness, etc etc all sorted out, wheel it for a bit then build a stroked 6.0 to bolt in its place when $ allowed.

This is what I'm doing.

There is so much "little stuff" that goes into getting an "LS" motor installed correctly and reliably that it adds up quick.

Seems like there is a lot to do it "right"

Not like the old days of a TBI 350 where you wadded the harness up with some zip ties, hose clamped a fuel pump to the frame rail and rocked out...and it was considered a "clean" install .

Re: 5.3 or 6.0

That highlights a difference in allocated wheelin funds... $1000 is like the budget for an entire drivetrain for me lol!

You do you. Playa.
You really can't go wrong with an LS. Holmann will do you good.
My plans are to build a motor while I ride this stock one. Then sell stock or put it in a Miata, s10 or a grom booyang

personally, do the 6.0

I was in that boat and glad I did. had a 4.3 (in an s10) and wanted v8 power. my swap happened back probably 6 years ago so 6.0s were not cheap then. could've went cheaper with a 5.3, but now that I've gone heads, cam, headers, tune on my lq4 it was the right choice in the end. and there's still tons of potential left.

Haha it can be done basically the same way. To do it mostly correct it can be installed for well under 1000. That's all AN fuel lines, couple filters and good pump and computer reflashed. If you cut the harness down yourself you can be closer to the 500 mark.

Welllll hell... I guess I need to get back to work and cut off all these zip ties. I thought I had a "clean" install. :wtflol:
