• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

A New Kinder Gentler Hardline

I would still consider myself a newb on hardline, even though I have lurked on here for years. I enjoy this forum as there are tons of really smart people on here that really know the hardcore tech that actually applies to wheeling.

It also usually directly applies to wheeling in the Southeast. I'm usually on nc4x4 anytime I can spare. I definitely have migrated here more and more as my knowledge and wheeling style has evolved.

I only go to pirate to search common topics or to search out previous builds to look up tech. Ever since the site was sold I try to avoid it more. I do not want hardline to evolve into another pirate. It seems a lot of people over there get off on flaming.

My point to all this, is for the 10000k time, thank John for all your hard work. It's a great site and I appreciate that you are active in steering it to keep it on an even keel.

I would rather post a question here if searching didn't resolve it mainly because most of the community here get out and actually wheel. These experiences evolve the tech and separate the hoopla from the actual knowledge.

I also come here for the parts for sale. It's easier to find the parts here that suit my needs and are not on the left coast.

Enough babbling, keep up the hard work John, you are appreciated.

I guess if you want to look at chit chat which is completely retatrded...

Maybe that's the reason for my differing opinion of Pirate. The only section I check in on is Gen4x4. I have never once clicked on Chit Chat or anything non-tech related.

Great thread. The beginning of "bouncing" And Peter sure caught hell here. Came to dish back at the end.
The funny thing is 90% of the people have no clue who coined "rock bouncing". If he had only trademarked the phrase :gtfo:

Where is Paul now.

That due used to crack me up. Got me some sort of sealant for wing bladders last min on a Friday to patch my fuel cell for a ride, ended up lasting 2 years.

Dirty 30...... damn shity keystones

On a serious not back in the day Pirate used to be grand but it's been ruined by it's members. Glad to see some forums sticking with something other than bashing or hashing grudges unless it's Marsha.....

I used to be on TheRangerStation a lot until I got absolutely FLAMED for telling a kid his D30 would never hold up to what he wanted to do with it. I responded, then got the ban hammer for 7 days. I didn't go back.

I had a build thread of my old Ranger on Pirate in the Ford section. Got a bunch of good feedback, tips and whatnot. Then after a year or so, I'd post, get 1,000 views, but zero responses, even with wheeling and carnage pics. Like someone said before, sometimes it takes that pat on the back to keep going. Between that and totally rediculous threads in GCC, I let my red star expire.

Now I am here 99.9% of the time and I love it. I did see the hate, porn, and bullying, even guilty of participating in some. But I still think this board is the best one I've been a member of. I wouldn't trade any of you for a thousand Roxy's, etc.

Thanks John, for keeping us square and growing. :dblthumb:

Re:

Im a nobody gayzer driver.. I just came here to look at pictures .. more build threads plz :****:

Seeing some new build threads going on. The harsh replies to the For Sale and build threads seems to have stopped. Still early in the process, but it seems to be working. And the friendly jabs and jokes are still here. Other than cleaning some past threads, I have not had to do much moderating, and that is good. Loving the self policing. Gotten a few report to moderators and have acted on those.

Loving the new "modification" threads, these are cool.

I want to thank all that are helping with this process. And thank those that are biting their tongue, rather than posting the hate comments.

I'm a nobody here for sure. I don't Facebook or tweet etc.. So this is my only social outlet during the day. I work outside alone every day of the week and I get a little lonely. This board has put a smile on my face countless times. The reads are great !!

I lost count a long time ago how many times I have written a book in response to something then deleted it. Lol

I would really like to post some tech and build threads but I have lost my ability to post pics. I found this place through a friend that moved to my town then I bought my reds from here. I've been hooked ever since.

Thanks to all you guys for just letting me post my vent and never hassling me. Thanks John for working so hard here.

Keep it up. Awesome place

I like to think I have a pretty thick skin and that being said I've never had anyone give me a hard time on here. Quite the opposite actually. When I've asked questions I've got good answers for the most part. Sure I was dumb enough to post about my Cummins and mentioned glow plugs, which they don't have. A few jokes were made but in the end the guys on here helped me get my truck running again. I love this place and seeing the guys cut up with each other from time to time is a little funny when it's between friends, and you can usually tell.

Cummins don't have glow plugs? What am I doing in the morning when I warm up the ignition before starting it then?

Re:

So when I turn the ignition on and wait for the light to go out what am I doing? It's not doing anything in terms of heating the manifold in that short of a time surely?

Sorry, I had a job waiting on me, I didn't have time to give you a link to fully answer your question.

I'm betting down there in sunny Florida you're wait to start time is quite a bit shorter than mine because your IAT is probably generally quite a bit higher than mine was at 4:30 this morning when it was 11*, or in the AM when they're predicting -4*. :****: When it's this cold I usually cycle the grid heater a couple times before I attempt to start the truck.

You're right but on cold days even down here when I forget to wait to start it is a definitely a slightly more burdened start compared to most of the time when I do remember to let it warm up.

In the heat of the summer the wait to start light lights up for less than a second and turns off immediately.
