Is this something new to air shocks or have they always been there and I just didn't notice them?

Always been there I reckon,

I don't know that they are always drilled and tapped on every shock, I assume some just have drilled holes, and others might just have the spot face for where the screw goes.

See piston
EDIT: I was posting that same pic...

Pat,

Fox and King don't have adjustable bleed in their 2.0 pistons, but Sway-A-Way does.
The picture you posted is a Sway-A-Way 2.5" piston.

Timjus,

Is it a gental pogo or a harsh pogo?

no pogo anymore ;D now they fell nice and soft while wheeling,
havent done faster speed stuff yet. but i was thinking to take my exavator and dig test track to field so i can hit it faster and faster

I'll be anxious to see how your stability is affected.

I had SAW air shocks about 10 years ago I guess it was. I'm 100% certain they weren't there then.

That's beside the point anyway. Carry on.

I have some old ass 2.0 fox on the gremlin.

Never even looked at the piston or shim stack much more than "dang that's some cool machine work, OH, so THAT's how the shim stacks work" when I was rebuilding them.

I might tear into them some when I actually start riding regularly again.

did some test hits today. it runs nice and soft when im wheeling in forest trails
not so good at my pogo track.

had other issues during test hits my steering valve had integraded check valve in pressure port.
some how it over extended and blocked pressure port hole and pump was running against wall and belt was slipping. took it out and now works like it should.

Did you compress your spine on that last run?

BTT.....I have a Sami now and broke a coil over spring, that wasn't on a coil over. :dblthumb: Instead of a shock and cut down coil, I am going back with some Fox 2.0 Air Shocks and starting this whole process over again. This should be a little easier this time and the rig is much lighter/more suitable for air shocks. I really think 12mph is top speed for this beast unless going downhill, then gravity is the limiting factor.

Unknown valving and unknown oil currently. Supposed to fill them up at KMCMINN's on Thursday and hopefully go try them out this Sunday.

we picked coil overs for my nephews buggy build and just had to bolt them under my rig and test them.

slapped some spring to them and whent to test drive. now im just pissed because even old rancho coilovers with some springs feel and ride better than my saw air shocks with all the valving and tuning.

rancho rs9000x coilover testing

Air shocks have their limitations, thats for sure. Your rig might have been a little too heavy and you may like to go a little too fast for airshocks. Now, get to tuning those coilovers and make some hight speed passes once you are done booyang

Welcome to the world of air shocks:
Massive friction
Little dampening oil
Emulsion
No dual rate

But hey, at least they're very affordable and provide good articulation on a link suspension.

Re:

I would strongly suggest coil overs or ORIs. I had a slightly lighter set up and it was a little too much for them for anything more than easy trail riding. 15mph tops for my comfort level.
