The small in the center was made for me by Branik Motorsports

It started as a solid chunk of prehardened chromoly and they turned it down to be a transaxle output to toyota flange for me!!!! Custom ford taurus splines on one side and toyota flange on the other. They can make about anything you need! I'm glad I got away from the welded CV shaft that's on the left and was a known weak link.

Kickass Travis !!

man this is awesome seeing all these rigs coming to gether Im so stoked !! :woody:

there's some hot lap testing at the end with air in the shocks at close to ride height.

We're not going to make it to gray rock this weekend. We have no seat time, and quite a few odds and ends to tie up to travel 900 miles for it's first outing. We hope to get most done by this weekend and do some testing.

Engine is running good and tranny is working well. Brakes still need some work though.

awesome seeing it come out like that....killer....i would love to put something together like that when i done with mine....

its a shame too that you wont make it to the race this weekend....

I hate missing the race and we've worked so hard to get there but it just barely won't cut it.
I was really looking forward to meeting all you guys, the XRRA competitors and hangin out with P and the KS crew again but I just can't justify 2000miles without knowing if it will go up a hill or stop coming down! KS sucks!

It did pretty well on the pothole in my street though molaugh

i wouldn't have pressed it either. I am starting to get totally enamored with single seat, midengines. Yours is in the top of my list for ones I dig the shiat' out of.

really? Damn, thanks man - hope it performs
really really want to get some skins on it to look like an s10. It's bigger than most single seaters but still a small bastard and I spent some extra time getting it proportional for an s10 body in the future. In my mind it's just not complete till it looks like I see it in my head.

In the future I'd really like to have multiple engine/trans combos ready to drop in and swap around to find the best combo.
ford tauras v6 is fairly heavy. I'm keeping my eyes out for a 4cylinder honda auto and also a northstar

wifey is playin with moviemaker - we hope to get some good footage and put some really cool stuff together after/during this season.

check out our webpage too, my buddy has been doing some good work for me too! www.rockwildengineering.com

what about a Taurus SHO motor, they are aluminum? And high HP to boot. You'd have to keep it spooled up pretty good racing, but it should handle it well.

with a constant low range it stays spooled up so a SHO would be nice too
I'm a cheap ass so I'll be looking for awhile.

I'm not an engine guy and never understood the HP craze, but the more I get into wheelin I'm seein a few places where power would help but most of the time it's because there's not a gear available for what's needed. And in the end it usually comes down to parts reliability.

I think I have ~ 5-600 in the whole engine, trans. That includes headers, fuel pump, custom output, trans rebuild, hoses, new water pump, alt, belt, etc - everything to get it running in on it's own and connected to a transfer case.

I hope I have the right gearing in this thing but from driving it and it being in constant low I think for a buggy like this a high reving engine with wider gear choices would be ideal - this might be a good application for a rotary. Did any come in fwd cars?

werent the late '80s early 90s RX-7s front wheel drives?

As for SHO motors, I passed on one about 3 years ago for $150. I only wanted the block for a polished aluminum coffee table. It was a runner, but for my use it was too high. I was thinking $50.

no....they are RWD....

i have long wanted to put a rotary in my buggy, or a 300zx TT motor....cuz those are my 2 car loves....but i cant make the commitment, and besides, when the time comes, i think that a healthy ls2 would be really pimp!!!

Dennis Dennison of BTG runs a 3.8 Ford all aluminum motor with a Super Charger out of a Tbird I think. He says they are way cheap. Good HP numbers too.

I loved the video. That is PRICELESS.

Congrats on the baby!

I hadn't thought about a turbo coupe. Aren't they RWD? I know there are some differences in the RWD and FWD engines. I'm far from an expert on this and only researched some of the issues on this one.

I will say that after being involved in this buggy build, it will be a while before I build one for myself. I thank Travis for letting me be involved in it and letting me make some of the desicions on it, but know that he has poured more heart and soul into this than anyone. It shows in some of the conversations we had when the stress was hi. We want this thing to come out and be reliable and fun. Hopefully this leads to some good finishes too.

It sucks that we won't make it this weekend. We will be ready and tested before the next event though.

The timeframe we had to build something a little out of the ordinary definitely took it's toll on all involved - real glad everyone is still on speaking terms and no fights have broken out!! So far the only downside to competin has been the timeframe to do the work and get prepared but I think of it as a good motivational tool. If it weren't for set dates I'd be sittin on my couch waiting till I'm ready to get fixed to wheel and I'd probably only make it out 1-2 times a year like most guys round here. Carpe diem!

Thanks for the help man!

I've been schemin on this thing for years and when the right help came along I had to capitalize on it and make it happen.
There's no way one person can do any of this stuff it's just not possible, you gotta have good people helpin you out and I had that. Hopefully I can keep everyone happy so we can continue to enjoy buildin and wheelin.

but it ain't over yet man - come on lets get it 100%, test it and go relax before we try to whoop everyone at RROCK and Jellico XRRA!!!
