Actually i priced out yukons and super joints for the Rubi 44 and it was practically same price. IMHO they are worth it to not have to deal with u joints and ears breaking off

RCVs only way to go

Somebody was trying to rape you on the yukons, or give you a set of rcvs... :****: $280 difference here. Scott may even do ya better on the yukons than Complete Offroad, dunno.

Rubi yukons/super joints $655

**** that plac emust be on a way better price im on i cant even buy them for that before shipping,i **** u not thats cheap kinda of scary cheap.

Yes, it's a waggy 44. I have decided to just throw stock ones back in it for now ($100 fix). Next time it breaks, I will be upgrading to chromolys. Actually prolly should've bought chromolys before I dropped nearly 2 g's on a set of wheels for my HD, but you know how it goes lol. Chromolys prolly be on tha list directly after my garage is finished being built. Can't really justify dropping the coin on them now, got too much other **** helping me empty my wallet. :****:

No kidding! When I bought shafts&super joints for a 79 f150 5 years ago I only gave $400 for the whole set. I thought it was mispriced or something, of course they've went up since then, but what ain't :****:

if ujoints are your weak link and never broke an axle why not just try another ujoint?

U joint may not be the weak link...the way it broke both times that I've broken it, it just seemed to me that the ujoint was the issue, but that may not be correct. Both times it has broke, its ruined the inner and outter shaft and the u joint was destroyed so there's really no way to tell for sure...as far as my amatuer eyes go anyways. In the meanwhile, I'm gonna throw some more used stockers back in it and do some more researching for when I end up doing the upgrade...becuase it will happen lol.

Looks like the overtime is going to continue rolling in at work for quite some time now....so I believe I'm gonna go ahead and upgrade. Thanks for the Complete Offroad link ^^^!!!!!

$613 for axles and superjoints for 80-92 Waggy D44 is cheap. However they do not list the manufacturer name, but they garauntee them not to be cheap imports and to be name brand. They call the u joints "Super U/joints", so I figure that it is Yukon brand stuff. If not, either way, chromoly axles and stouter joints is what I need...and with my truck only being a 4 banger, stock t case, and only 36" tsl's, any chromoly upgrage kit will be substantially better than stock. I just called and although their website says they have phone support until 11pm CST mon-fri, they didn't answer lol. So I sent them an email requesting info on who manufactures the axle shaft kit and how much shipping would be.

They are Yukons. The pic on their website even has the Yukon box in it :****:

Complete has good prices but I'll tell you I got a steeeeeeel on the rcvs from a buddy who is a dealer for them. He has been a dealer for a LONG time. But if moneys tight it is hard to beat the yukons.

Was it for a TJ/Rubicon axle? The RCVs for those are "reasonably" priced... For a Waggy axle however, RCVS are RETARDED high $$$.

And I'm a RCV (Longfield) supporter from WAY back. Like some of the first sets of 30 spliners that came out, early 2000s era.

Yes it was for a rubi 44. The price comparison isn't to far off for straight chromos vs rcvs for that axle. You'd think the waggy axles would be closer to same price.

I really wanted RCVs for my waggy....but id also hafta buy new 30spline drive flanges as the RCVs dont come in a 19spline outer. Thankfully my 450$ yukons with 760s are holding up. Did a pretty hard bump-jump withem this weekend. Guy behind me on the hill said he couldnt believe every rotating drivetrain part was still attached to the vehicle.

tonybolton , I just worked on a little buggy with a HP 44. It had WARN lockout on it, 30 splines. I think that old school Dana 30s from CJs had 30 spline outers . So, If I'm right you could use lockouts from an old Dana 30 . I'm sure that John or Tom at RCV can tell you.

oh...getting 30 spline stubs isnt a problem. Its just extra cost id hafta figure in. And also....after breaking 6 sets of Warn unbreakable premiums....i quit using them and went to flanges. The 19 spliners never given me a problem. Always broke the stock axles at the neck down before the pumpkin' or just before the u joint.

Yukons and 760s been the ticket for me.

I thought they sucked ass. They broke most of the time when i was just tryin to crawl stuff. I would say there were only two times i busted one and said "yup...thought so".

Ive heard/read stories ehere people were breaking alloy axles and ring and pinions....but not a warn hub. Go figure. Guess every setup has a unique weak link.

Since i drive to/fron the trail id like to use a reliable unlocking hub. Could justify Lobgfields or CTMs then.

I'm willing to bet these are the USA standard shafts with the Yukon Super Joints. i.e. the value series axles and the premium joints. BTW just call me if anyone needs better pricing then what your looking at now. Both RCV and USA or Yukon.
Thanks,

Problem solved, bought the built D44 waggy front axle Jeeptaudi has on here for sale with chrome moly internals. Gonna use that stuff in my front end and will have a seperate housing for when I get ready to 3 link my front end on down the road since it came out of Brock's 3 linked Taco. :woot: Perfect timing to catch that axle for sale! Same gears, bolt pattern, outters. :driving: Hooray for spare parts!
