Time for some updateing , my one tons have served me well with nitro unjoints and 10 factory shafts but I am constantly servicing them and the king pin bushings are shot and then joints keep spinning in the ears of the shafts, I wanted to re gear them so after all the debate, rockwell it is , I already have em in my jeep as well so I will only hafta carry spare parts for rockwells and be covered on both rigs , I shaved the diff pans, made all the link mounts , shave the brake drum brackets and polished most of the welds down for a clean look , overson front 16 spline shafts.....and overson has to be THE BEST Offroad company I have ever delt with, Steve is the man over there and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for rock parts, I will posT pics later of the chassis after I modify some of the tube work and get the axles under it for clearance to keep it sittin as low as possible

You are dead on about overson. In November I wanted shafts for my front and Randy ansered. I talked fr a while and told him it feels good to buy good parts made good in the good USA! He didn't have any at the time, but he said he would call. Steve called me in late December with some ready to ship. I didn't think I would ever here from them again. Now I have oversons front and rear! Great product from great people!

I'll be watching this one. I'll prolly be doin the same thing real soon with these damn one tons. :****:

Little more work done tonight, gettin closer just need lower link tabs, shock tabs brake guard , then onto finish the front up

Rear is completely done, front is getting there....I've built a few sets of rocks and never put this much time into them, I hope it pays off

Hopefully in another week or tWo I can bump this thread to the low sittin rockwell tHread and maybe it will give some of ya an idea what ya can do with what ya already got on a budget and have a really strong axle! :eat: :driving:

Gorgeous ,wish I could send you my rockwells and let you clean them up and paint em. You don't want rear steer though?

Hammer paint yes, rear steer isn't in the budget this year, but im sure it will be sometime in the next year, I'm trying to keep track of the money I have into these axles, when I'm done I will post up the cost to give anyone wondering ideas between a decent rockwell and a one ton cuz that's the age old debate, and I'm pretty sure that i have almost the same amounts into both my hp 60 and the rockwell front and the rock is gonna be much stronger, if I can find some scales, I will weigh the rock and the hp ford 60 as well

Rear steer wasn't in my budget either, but I put a front axle in the rear and welded a plate from the housing to the tie rid to fix the steering straight and ran my rig that way for a year until I could afford a steering setup. Rear steer setup was a grand from pse and I use it more that the front. But your still looking gooood!

I have rocks and rear steer in my jeep, it does work great, makes a tank turn on a dime, considering swapping in to the buggy and putting the straight axle back in the jeep but I'm not sure i wanna do that either cuz the rear steer makes the jeep

It would be nice to see a chassis dyno pull with the one tons, then swap to the rocks and do another pull to see the power loss difference.
