dana 300 vs. toyota dual cases

Yota with 4.7s and upgrade output shaft to D300 stock with atleast rear output. You'll love front dig.
The adapter is pricy but you'd have all the gearing you need plus dig.
my .02

If you get dual yota cases you have to promise not to drive around at 6k RPMs going 2mph. I can't stand all the yota freaks who do that. :puke:

I say go 5.3 and D300.

Other than, broke rear output, went 32 spline. Then broke front output, went 32 spline. Never another problem, except the LoMax 4:1 kit is bad about jumping out of front low on the coast side going down hill. Most of them do this, they sent three fixes, only long term solution I found had Atlas on it!!!!

Sorry JRich to derail but need to ask a question
I am fixing to upgrade from a Terra to a Lomax in my 300. When I got my Jeep if I was in Rear low only it would jump out down hill. Never had problem if I was in four low. I fixed my problem coming out of rear low. I did not know the low max had a problem jumping out of front low. Is this something that happened regular or just every once and awhile?

Happened consistantly on certain grades. Steeper the grade and using the engine for braking, the more likely. Happen 10 times a day or so.

My tera set does pops out the front occasionally when engine braking on steeper grades. its very intermittent though.

Well darn never had a problem with the Tera jumping out of front. Heck I guess I will just have to try it and see cause the Lo max is on the way. Maybe I will get lucky and if not I will just have to deal with it then.

if you are using teh 2.7 keep the 5 speed and get dual cases, do 23 spline 4.7 gears in teh rear case with a bobby long output and you're set
i absoluetly abuse my buggy now and i've started to weed out the weak links, aka the stock output. i have weight on my side (2700 lbs) but i run 42"s that setup will also give you some length to the drivetrain so you don't have a stupid short front driveshaft.
do that and if you do get a 5.3 or any v8 get an atlas. that's doing it once and doing it right
im saving my pennies for a v8/auto/atlas4 swap :woot:

how long did your stock output hold up???
do you have to do any mods to the w56 to run the 23 spline??
do you have to 23 spline both cases???

sry Im new to the whole gear driven yota scene..

i put it in when i got my buggy so 1 1/2 years on the stock one. before that it was on 33"s.
i have the older 5 speed. i've done no mods to it the front case is stock the intermediate shaft is 23 spline, the front case is still 21 spline input
i've heard that if you have the axles geared it helps take alot of strain on the t-case. i run 4.10 so that might of made it worse, im steppin up to 4.88 when i put my spider9's in

yea plannin on runnin the 4:56 cucv axles so maybe itl help.

So if I buy the 23 spline doubler kit i'll only have to buy one 23 spline shaft for the rear case..
rock out w/ stock output till it breaks...

I'm not a yota guy by any means but I do wheel with them. Few weeks back in Harlan friend of mine sheared his rear output off in his doubler. Running 39s with the 4cyl in his 4runner. Wasn't even being mean to it, just broke. I know how it is being in college, as I'm there too, but if you have the cash I'd def. upgrade to the chromo stuff before you put it in.

Hey I have a buddy who has a HP balljoint 60 with 4.88 yukon gears, Chromolly yukon shafts with CTM joints. Has a detroit, and warn Drive flanges and a double ended ram. Comes with some spare parts also
10.25 Sterling with Detroit an 4.88 gears and stock 35 spline shafts
And a Stack 3 speed.
Everything you need for your swap.
Even has some H1 Double beadlocks.
$5k. takes it all

thanks for the offer, but a little leary of the balljoint fronts...

Got a hook up on a set of cucv's local for a good deal
and pretty much have the deal on my tranny and cases nailed down...
