"Dirty White Girl" the 85' TOYOTA 4RUNNER

I believe people arent seeing the overall big picture of this project. My goal is to have an all, or mostly, TOYOTA powered rig. This a build thread, not a troll other peoples project and tell them what you would do/change instead thread. I really don't understand why, but It burns some people up when they see things done differently then what they would do, and they HAVE to give there .02 cents. Don't get me wrong, I'm a very laid back and passive person, I welcome all comments and suggestions from anybody. However, I'm guilty of criticizing people's craftsmanship as well, but I typically keep negative thoughts to myself and encourage people's attempts. Haters just gonna hate I reckon!

Negative thoughts? You make thread on hardline, people give you constructive criticism and you get upset. You put it out there. This is the response. This reminds me of the guy post a Toyota stock front axle for sale for $800 and gets upset when he gets replays like "Must be made of gold".

Final fitment. The transfer case triple sticks fit through perfect where the cup holder use to be and they shift super smooth after proper adjustments were made on the linkage! thumb.gif

Dig the shifters. I twin stocked my Dana 300 with shifters like that. I'm still all Toyota axles not 8" but still Toyota and don't plan on swapping until I break enough with the new motor. I dig it man. Little heavy but you'll find weak links for sure

It hasent been trail tested yet. Only moved around the shop. I'm still working through the last couple steps of the build! I need to get the mechanical speedo output converted to electric so the transmission is not in limp mode. I really want/need to get a RAD shift controller and forget about limp mode! Also the engine is running a bit rich because there are no catalytic converters on the dual exhaust and it has o2 sensor DTC codes. Just a couple small hurdles and a lil more $$.

I use to have a 93 4runner that I 1uz swapped. I used the mechanical to electric speedo output converter deal that marlin crawler was selling. I'm not sure that they still have them but it may be an option. I really want to see how this turns out. My motor was tough as hell and I never could hurt it. I was using the stock computer and harness and they are VERY detuned from the factory. They suck! I have some ideas to get around that for the next Toyota v8 swap though if I can ever get to it.

The truck is doing good so far! The only issue i have encountered is i dont have a set of fans that will keep the radiator and block cool enough at slow speed. When im crawling in double low the temp goes up around 220. Of course im using a single row radiator and a single 14" spal fan so that is somthing i will have to upgrade.

I finally got motivated to fab the mount and tie rod clamp for the hydro assist ram and I had Hydraulic Supply in Chattanooga make the 3 high pressure hoses. It turned out good even though I couldn't mount the ram behind the tie rod like it needs to be! See y'all at the BKORP grand opening for the SRRS #3 race!!! :woot: :driving:

Finally broke a few parts down at Busted Knuckle ORP. I smashed the front axle into a rock on the white lightnin trail hard enough to make the differential housing touch the ring gear and shear some teeth off! 5 out of the 6 hub studs got sheared off on the driver side also. Oops! :drinkers: So I decided to disassemble the entire front axle, hammered out the dent n welded on some trail gear differential armor, installed a trail gear trunnion bearing eliminator kit, trail gear eco-knuckle wiper seals, Marlin crawler eco-inner axle seals, new gasket kit, new Timken wheel bearings, ARP hub studs and steering arm studs, an oem ring gear, and a fresh coat of Rust-Oleum paint. Let's see how long the front axle can last with the V8 now!!! :dunno:

I found some more damage today on the driver side birfield (same side the hub studs sheared off) :'( there is a crack all the way through one ball bearing channel and two more channels have hair line fractures! Time to drop some more $$$ before this axle gets reassembled :(

Yeah ::) It was! My buddies have finally convinced me that I'm a idiot for running stock parts for so long, now I've decided to get RCV's with the 300m internals and a Yukon ring and pinion. thumb.gif
