You waiting on an invite? You said this is what you wanted to do, so make it hapen. Sounds like a good deal...

Man, that sure seems like a good deal. What kind of service history? I worry about the maintenance or lack of that company trucks see. How many miles on it?

I already bought Dibbles old resold 3x's rig. It's being delivered, then I will look at buying Van's Tacoma to haul it with. Prolly make it a flatbed since I have limited parking at my place.

Good call Bones, since Dan's old rig is now a tank and probably weighs 8k, I am sure that Taco will tow the **** out of it...

Should give better mpg also, say about 4+ mgp better
Pfft! minimum. All I need is a custom as **** 3" receiver hitch to haul the new rig. I figure P can make me one since he has oodles of free time

Gas? pfft. Gas is for your trail rig. Do you really Need a $50k buggy? It's not about what you need. You know you want a tow rig that get 20 mpg empty, will more than likely last 300-500K miles, run on real alt fuels (not some ethanol bs) and can be turned up to make 400+hp/1000ftlbs-pulling whatever hills there are around here in OD. Can't do that with some crappy gas motor.

molaugh

You are a feisty bitch today!

If that truck is that cheap and you don't buy it you're a.... wait, nevermind, where is it at, I'd like to look at it first for you and make sure it's ok.

So the seller is my friend's boss. That's how I heard he would let it go for $6800. I got spousal approval and I called my friend to confirm the price. Hopefully this works out. I'm told it's in good shape and shifts well. We'll see.

A little different information, but I had an older Mercedes-Benz Diesel car and sold it having well over 500,000 miles. I had the engine rebuilt at about 575, 000+, but I sold that car running in tip-top shape.

It got 45 MPG and always was a little more expensive to maintain if something did need servicing, but I regret selling it since I am travelling more now.

On the topic of tow-rigs though, I currently have a Chevy Bread Van that is a gas motor (used to be Diesel) and it does everything I need it to do, but then again I do not haul across the country or even at a level of high-frequency.

If I hauled more and hauled more often, then I would get a Diesel due to the extended life of Diesels, but gas motor is fine for me right now and I know that the Bread Van has hauled 6000 lbs before.

That is my experience, but I found that I couldn't kill that 240D Mercedes Diesel. Sure, it was slow, but it never let me down. I did meet all service intervals though.

Hope that helps somewhat....

(I am still working on not signing my name after I comment)

What year? A friend of mine has an 05, his millage went from 15-16 to over 20 on the hwy when he switched to a ppe chip from an edge. Also fixed all his check engine light and other dealer related problems.

Mine is an 04.5 LLY the 1st gen LLY. My computer will tell me I am getting 20-22 sometimes, but if I hand calculate it its only about 16-18 on the interstate. My truck seems to get the best mileage running around 76mph.
PPE is by far the best chip you can get for a Duramax.

Wyatt yes I was the one talking about taking all the emissions crap off. My friend did it and the GMC place in town still did warranty work on it when he fried his computer hooking up a programmer.
