Just read this entire thread and its awesome. A couple of us had a conversation about this just the other day when I showed my roomate (lifetime SCCA member and racer) some videos of Tim and XRRA stuff.

"Rock bouncing" is getting the attention that drifting got when it first came stateside. "Pureists" said it was of tire roasting BS. Just like people now hating about romping an obstacle and just plain getting it. Its all about pushing it to the ragged edge and holding it all together...while carrying a few extra pairs of shorts. If someone wants to go out there and put it in uber low and crawl something cool. If you want 400hp and stomp on your big foot gas pedal all day long then go for it. We are all out there to do the same thing: wheel, have fun, drink beer, make fun of each other and raise hell. Some of us just have a little more limited budget than others but we do what we can to participate.

Why the **** would I spend 70k of my hard earned cash on a buggy and beat the **** out of it in the mud?

Wheeling for me has nothing to do with a 'show' Sure I like great pics and scenery and a good full throttle shot here and there, but wheeling is for my fun and my recreation. It would stress me out to no end to wheel like that....

OK....I have never said those guys suck...that their rigs were crap.....but I hate that style of wheeling.....so I guess I am a hater? I have said I did not like Gay Rock and would probably never go back, so I guess that makes me a hater too.....

Rant on dude, but the wheeling I saw in the pic and video from Gay Rock this weekend had more in common with Formula Off road in Europe than any rockcrawling I enjoy.

That said I don't see how not lking a certain type of wheelng makes a person a hater
