I gave David the leeway to build the cage however he wants. I also encouraged him to show off what he can do and go way outside the box. I can guarantee I will use the cage, however I am not racing or doing 100 across the desert, so not that strength doesn't matter, but Im not concerned. I have a feeling this will be over built and plenty strong. I provided him enough rope to hang himself or have something he can be proud of.

This will be ready for a shake down run prior to Moab by April 1st. (Count this as a written warning! )

I can also guarantee David will be moving the B pillar away from my head! . Times like this, that just aint gonna work.

^ this.. I think the OP has talent. I like that he is thinking outside the box. I just think he should build ornamental railings and not roll cages. Something that could potentially saves someone's live doesn't need to be a art project. I believe if he just did a nice K.I.S.S cage and showcased his tig welding abilities and eye for a good clean design it would speak volumes. I hope he makes us all eat crow. For now Im gonna sit down with a bucket of fried chicken and watch the mad genius at work lol.

David, you have a lot to learn man. I know who built it and I know who built that badass racecar of Nazir's. Thing is there is a huge difference between taking direction from you boss aka Woodlee and going out on your own and doing it all yourself. You're extremely talented but your maturity level has not caught up to your talent. I always thought the dumbest thing you ever did was leave Wide Open Design. I know you think you "got it" and know it all and all that bullshit but at your young age, a solid 5 years or even 10 years working under Adam would have been the best thing you ever did. You wouldn't even be 30 yet by the time you were ready to go out on your own, but with a lifetime of knowledge gained from the best in the business. Hate to derail your build, prove us wrong I'll be the first to congratulate you.

man im behind you rooting for you to make all the haters eat crow. Shut up, get to work and get it done. You have the skills for sure now build on the public relations and stay focused on your goals.
I dont know you from adams house cat but have seen enough to make me believe in you. I've worked in a metal fab shop and welded for a few years and know what quaility work looks like is the reason im not hating on you like others. I think the best thing you can do is ignore this topic til you are ready to post progress pics and ONLY pics til your done.

Funny I was thinking the same thing, he didn't learn any humility working with Woodlee.
