• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Elbe Rock crawl and Rainier Vista

Is there a width limit now? I had my rig up there last year for a clean-up and always haul rigs out of the Busy and knowone has ever said a width limit?

42s? That aint right!:scratchhead: Those are toyota tires!:awesomework:

What was wrong with the 47s?

I liked the 47's but never felt i had complete control of the tire or enough power to really get them going IMO. So i went with more power smaller tires etc we will see. Not only all that I ran those tires for a year its time for different tires isnt it lmao:redneck:

I would hope that the plan is to keep the trail usable to the average wheeler with bonus lines for the hardcore. Loosing a trail that already exists for everyone so just a few can use it is no better than what it is now.

I hope the goal would be to have something like this...

I can see this taking some pressure off of the Busywild trail...the average prepared wheeler should be able to attempt the hill, but might need to pull cable to get to the top.

Most trails at Elbe are more like roads. Over half the area is doable in a 2wd. The Quadrapaws have done a great job in Tahuya with making trail sections more challenging and interesting, time to bring more enjoyment to Elbe!

I have no problem with making things more interesting and fun as long as a existing trail thats available for everyone to use is not turned into something that only a small group can use. If you stop to think about my point for a moment you will see its no differant that the argument over width of trails. It seems the narrow tight trails are no longer tolerated since so many "modern day" rigs cant fit so why would it be ok to turn a existing trail that is open to all into a "extreme rigs" only trail ?

I'm all for having a hard line and an easy line on the same trail. It lets two different sets of people run the same trail. What's so bad about this? :corn:

A properly prepared rig should be able to navigate this trail...lockers, gears & a good driver should do just fine...a winch would help get through the really tough spots. The pictures I posted show 2 full bodied Jeeps & one buggy.

I fully support having a nice mix of trails...easy/beginner, medium, extreme rock, extreme mud, tight twisty, full size friendly. Currently there is the Busywild, the rock hill on Sunrise & then the rest of the trails.

We are not going to make everyone happy...I don't think that should stop us from making one trail into a tough rock trail. It will give folks something to push their driving skills & rigs. Jim, I am sure there are plenty of PNW4WDA members that could easily navigate the rock trails @ Tahuya...you make it sound like this will turn into a buggy only trail. I don't think that is the goal.

Just putting my 2 cents in so that people know not everyone wants it to be a "buggy trail" Glad to see My opinion is shared.

If we all think back a bit Nancy said we had "I believe" 13 miles of trail allowed at Elbe. We need to get out there and measure the trails and see. If we dont have 13 miles then I would be in full support of creating a new trail with nothing but knarly rock and such. This could easily be done on one of the many old loggging roads with minimal impact. The Busywild trail has turned into somewhat of a hardcore trail during the wet seasons (11 months:haha:) but is quite runable by most when dry. This trail has always been somewhat this way and is fine as it is. This is a lot differant than intentionaly taking a mild trail and turning it into something wild that only a few can use. Again I just want to make sure that the park is for everyone. :awesomework:

I don't think we should make ALL trails navigable by ALL rigs without pulling cable...there should be some obsticals/trails that the average driver should fully expect body damage, broken parts & a tug from a winch. If they are not comfortable taking these risks, then I would suggest they avoid that particular obsticle/trail until they are ready.

From what I can tell, there are 8 trails @ Elbe...we all know the Busywild is challenging & if we improve the Rainier Vista that still leaves 6 trails that the average wheeler can navigate. I fully support some narrow/tight trails...as long as you fully support some difficult rock trails...some full size friendly trails...some stock rig friendly trails.

Everyone should have a trail that suits their interests/capabilities...I just don't think that ALL trails should be easily driven by a stock rig with open differentials without the fear of body damage or broken parts

ahhh the fun of the internet:haha: I think we are arguing over agreeing :haha: I have no issue as do most with pulling cable when needed and having a proper rig for the trail. I do have a issue with taking a existing trail and changing it to suit only a specific group of users. To me that would equate to the same thing as the "jeepers' going in to the busywild and making it so narrow "again" that nobody wider than 70" or so could possibly fit thru.

I would personally love to see more than a few trails that would chew my rig up & spit it out in pieces :haha: However, I realize that not everyone shares my opinion. The funny thing is that I felt the same way driving my old CJ7...we need to give folks something to strive for. Otherwise, they look for challenges in places that are not approved trails :eeek:

What better way to spend a SAT afternoon...have you seen the weather outside :eeek:

I could see your point IF we were talking about making all trails extreme...but we are only talking about 1 trail out of 8.

I think we should have a trail for the short/narrow folks
