Endurance racing in the South?

Putting on a race for the average joe who has to work a real job and has a family is just a huge time/money suck. Draggbody did 2 MM races and he was done, Ecors wore out the two Robs, and then Travis. Its a amazing amount of work to do it right.

I have held out hope that one of the bouncer series would give it a try...
 
I'm in so long as it doesn't interfere with the Ultra4 series.

I'm thinking the new pro rock racing will be pretty extreme terrain, huge hills, etc. I doubt it will draw many U4 guys since it's already expensive enough without destroying our rides on some dumb bounty hill.

And I think a stock heater class would be the most fun thing that could be done! Just limit it to bolt ons and tire size, add some safety and rock out! And do it soon while scrap is still cheap and we can buy running XJs for a few hundred bucks!!
 
I am in. Building now to fit 4500 rules. Posted in the Pro Rock Racing post and will say it here....interested to see what classes they come up with. I would think stock, mod, and unlimited would be pretty straight forward. Pick up some timing stuff from the motorcycle harescramble world and be ready to go.

I also was looking in to getting a race together, and Stoney Lonesome has told me they will be 100% down to host a race!

Seems to be a lot of interest, and I am ready to go!
 
My team (Pro Rock Racing) is diligently working to put together a format for endurance racing in the Southeast. It will be in and around Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and possibly Georgia. We will definitely work around the Ultra 4 schedule. The first few races will more than likely be two classes depending on the participation. Unlimited and something like a trophy class including Cherokees, Toyotas, and Jeeps on 35s-38s. The entry fees will be more than the usual rock races we put on, but the purse will definitely be more than most of the endurance races I know of. We plan to do an endurance race at the 2017 Race to Riches with a large purse reaching as much as $35,000 just for that one race. It all really depends on participation of racers as well as sponsors. We paid out over $110,000 in cash and prizes this year for that one event, and plan to double that in 2017.
I'm open to all suggestions about the classes, locations, race length, and locations. Feel free to email me or text me if you want. I don't get on HL as often I used to, so I may slow to respond on here.

What would the safety requirements be? Would it be a full suit, neck restraint, arm restraints all that or a helmet and go? Sounds interesting the endurance and rock crawling stuff always interested me more than the hill killin. I loved the old WE Rock stuff up in Dayton.
 
On the Pro Rock racing website, it states a hans device is required. What are the normal entry fees?
 
I would not necessarily rip the rules right from the U4 site, but having similar guidelines will attract those racers to come race the series as well.
UTV - Not sure on this one as ultra 4 is more production based in this class and we have a lot more buggy based UTV's in the southeast
Stock (4600 class) 35inch dot tires max, factory style suspension, doors, safety
Modified (4500) factory frame, 37" dot tires, no trailing arms, safety
Unlimited (4400 and 4800 fit in this) - safety safety safety

We will require a fire suit, and fire extinguishers inside the vehicle. We do also require a head/neck restraint system. No foam collars. You can get a functional set up for less than $200. I know the safety regulations are what kills it for most people, but when it comes to competition, we must keep the racers safe and crowd safe. That's the only way we can keep insurance and sponsors really like to know that the events they are being represented at are safe. We won't be implementing ridiculous rules, I like the idea of KISS (keep it simple stupid). We've already been getting great feedback from vendors, parks, and sponsors, so with the participation of the race teams we can make this a big deal in the Southeast with some of the best payouts in the sport of off-road. As many of you know, I also run the Mega Truck Series and we pay out more than any other mud racing company out there, over $15,000 per race, i don't see why we can't reach that same goal with endurance racing.
 
Here are the rules for the Toyota trail class from ECORS. You could easily change the wording to include other vehicle makes and models for a budget or trail class. Using these rules I was able to get my trail rig race ready and competitive for about $700. Just thought the link would give some guys good information for budget endurance racing.

Just a thought regarding Pro-rock entry fee's, i can see a high entry/payout being cool for unlimited/U4 class, but for stock and mod, low entry fee's will draw more racers- we just want to race! Also i hope you have a utv class as well!

We had a small competition in Central Florida last month. Three classes, stock- up to 35's, modified-up to 38's, & unlimited. Entry fee was $50 and the payout was $500 for 1st place in each class.

The race was 2 laps, which took 4-5 minutes each. Racers started 30 seconds apart to keep us from ramming each other the whole time, but still allowed us to pass/lap racers that were either slower or got hung up in the rocks. Each class ran at separate times.
 
Team Robby Bobby is all in on some Pro Rock racing endurance racing. Just please post it on Hardline and we will be there. This Facebook crap is killing me.
 
Regarding the entry fees, we will definitely price races accordingly. I totally understand what you are saying "I just want to race" we are using locations that will allow us to run trails that will challenge a stock Rubicon, while also giving us the option to challenge full blown tube chassis race rigs with very little effort to change from one course to the next.
Example: We could run a race at Choccolocco Mountain and Boat Ramp could be part of the track, but the bypass lane would be open for less capable vehicles, but easily roped off for the Unlimited rigs to hit the main obstacles and we also have the option to hit the bonus line up the left. That bonus line would cut off a big part of the course if you climb it, but could be detrimental if you don't. In the event that we have a crash there, we can open up the bypass for the rest of the field to use so the rolled over rig can safely be recovered.
We are definitely going to run UTV Endurance racing as well.
Our next goal is to get to a point where we can do an event with teams consisting of a Mega Truck, Hill Killin buggy, Endurance rig, and UTV competing in a relay style race with each vehicle running a portion of the track that will showcase its strengths.
We are doing this on a smaller scale at AOP in January with UTVs only. Each team has 6 racers, but one racer must be female, and one racer must be under 15 years old. We are doing UTV Knockout, Endurance/Relay race, and short course Motocross style.
This type of racing will hopefully get more kids and family involved with attending the events.

Been talking to a friend about this. would be awesome but I would keep the moto "kiss" for the throphy class. most Cherokees or Toyota axles will not hold a 35-38" tire without heavy modification and upgrades.
a 33" class with little modification + safety requirenments would be killer and should see a good turnout
