Stock Toyota front axle measurements for comparison:
55.5" wide, 29" spring perch centers, '79-85 Toyota trucks and 4runners, SA Hubs
'86-95 IFS front end is about 58.5" wide


Toyota Rear Axle Widths:

58" wide, '86-95 4wd trucks/4runners - 6 Lug]

98 percent of toyotas wheelers run these axles with a 4 inch backspace, 10 wide rim and 3 inches of wheel spacer too on a front axle to match the IFS rear style.

56 wide + 3 spacer + 12 for backspace + 3 for sidewalls = 74.

My toyota has 38.5x 16 wide swampers and is 73 wide with beadlocks, not measued at the bulge on bottom.

And the funny part is one of the only jeeps we seen IN the trails that day was driven by a girl.:;

I was referencing that I see many weekends where 2-3 guys wheel in diverse rigs/groups and the jeepers tend to show up in huge numbers that look like they are the majority.

Also more nonwheeling folks and LEOs are around during these events making it look to them like the jeeps are the majority not the weekly users.

I don't know a single person who runs a 4" backspaced wheel on a toy. They are either 3" or 2.5".

But thats a moot point as tony has told us how they are going to measure.

So, unless I'm missing something, which is certainly possible, even with adding the 3" Mike said most have with 2.5" BS, the OS tire would still only be 77".

no **** huh? guesse we have never actually met, but I have 4 bs wheels on my rig.

I have a few other toyots here with 4 inch BS too. Just stating what I see each day.

Hell I even have a 4 inch BS wheel holding up my boat trailer jack.

Most common rim on toyotas is a (if splitting hairs) 3.5-3.75 BS.

2 is also out there but not common.

But its a moot point. Heres 5 trucks owned by nonwebwheelers in my driveway with 4 BS.

I run a 15x8 (with Bobby's beadlocks) with 3.75" BS on my Cruiser. With a 36x12.50 TSL, I'm right at 72"...

Its really not hard to stay in the low-mid 70's with Toyota axles.

I could but my coilovers are built around the wheel backspacing on the rears and I would dig pretty hard into them if I went narrower.

Is that a rule you will break? I mean I know we're talking Evans here so it's not like we go there a lot anyway. But, what if you really wanted to go wheel there. Are you staying home instead? Your rig doesn't look that wide. I doubt if you'd get hassled. Doesn't everyone think that this rule is more for the "yocals" running their "muddin" rigs through the tight trails??? I see this rule being imposed more on the full size rigs and the rigs with the massively over sized tires. Maybe I'm wrong. I may never know cause I'll probably never go:silly15:

You're right, no single poll is valid. The only way you could get accurate numbers is trailhead surveys. A compilation of polls from various sites would be better but, even then, poll numbers wouldn't accurately reflect the actual users of the trails.

I agree. Someone should ask Bob Pacific how many vehicles he has measured at Evans Creek ORV trail system before he made his decision. I bet I know the answer.

The thing is, its perceived like this, that the "Jeepers" want to exclude some people from the trail system. At least thats how I see it perceived. Not saying that I see it like that, but, I think much of the general populous of wheelers do.

Not to say it would be right but it would be funny for a second (then you would see it closed cause with out jeeps everyone else thinks it wont get wheeled). My Zuki will be under the 72" but not by much (lookin like 71":fawkdancesmiley No one I know with a YJ/XJ/TJ will be able to wheel it. 80" would let more in but would keep out a lot of people still. I have no issue with fullsize rigs on the trail but when I see rigs on rockwells and 53" tires running up the banks cause they cant turn for **** it helps me like a width restriction. I think it would be a better idea (not that it would ever happen) to have a width restriction from trail to trail. Some would be narrow and others would be wider for fullsize rigs. Just my .02 cents
