everyone ok? storm thread

There were people here that were sitting on their porches and **** when the torcon??? (tornado index thing) was at like a 9. During the April 2011 storms the highest it got was like a 7 and these idiots were posting on facebook about how it was cool to just sit there and watch. People will think its cool until everything they own is thrown across 5 counties and 2 states.

How bad did it mess Harlan and Everts up?

Re: Re: everyone ok? storm thread

This was right after the storm passed and we got out of shelter. Never seen that much water in the middle of town. That's a super market parking lot and the rocky place is just a drain off from the main road between a taco bell and mcdonalds. Never seen water rush down it like that.

Was that flooding down in Fort Payne or up in Rainsville?

Re:

It was flooded in Fort Payne. I went to check on my mom at 2 in the morning and it was bad. Talked to her for about an hour then left to go home and the water was gone. I was surprised how fast it drained off.

Rainsville, I live up on Sand Mtn, so it's really rare to have water like that up there lol. I bet Fort Payne near Kmart parking lot was super flooded, it doesn't even have to rain hard to flood that little creek down there.

After the last time it flooded bad a few years ago and ruined that cell phone store and other buildings around Kmart, apparently they done a lot to fix the draining issue. Seems like it hasn't done that again since then that I know of. I work in Fort Payne, only about 2 miles from Kmart.

Wife's elderly Aunt lives near Groveoak, we haven't talked with her to see how bad things were there, I figured Fort Payne would get flooded

Saved a man that lost his son and wife $4000 on caskets today. Really put things into perspective about the storms. I was worried about being out of power or picking up sticks. He was pulling his dead family from rubble.

It's a day to be thankful and one for prayers for those in need. Just because it isn't in the news doesn't mean there isn't a lot that needs to be done.

Might be chain sawing at a buddies relatives house in Kimberly/Morris area this weekend.
