wow jason, those are impressive numbers out of an 05 loaded. probably has more to do with driving style I guess. the 2 05's I know of are 15mpg trucks on a good day.
Matt, I agree with him, get that **** looked at. the cummins is a vererable motor. it does better than that.
white smoke is unburned. black is fuel brought to temp and not fully burned off. still going off

jason, do you make and blend you own bio or do you have a station that sells it there. all love for it?

I am about to be making a trip north....tomorrow, pulling my truck with the 8.1L Avy, I bet I will get around 10-11............hopefully.
I will be rolling through Bama tomrrow afternoon sometime.

OK.....went and looked thru my leftover Bullydog stuff....if anyone is interested in any of this just look online or call Bullydog to see if it works for your application.....it's been over a year since I've messed with any of it and I can't remember ****. I will sell all of it dirt cheap....I haven't looked back at what I gave for it but it'll be a bargain for sure.

(1) 42500 Outlook Combo(that's the tripledog downloader with in-cab monitor) for 03-up Dodge Cummins 5.9

Matt we bought all our inventory in early 06' so you'd need to make sure this would work for you if interested.

(2) 40500 Triple Dog Downloaders----best I remember they work on Dodge,Ford,or Chevy from 01'-up

(1) 43568 06' GM Power Pup---can't remember the purpose for this downloader or why it's different from the tripledog

Can't stress enough...I don't remember all the ins and outs of this stuff.....if you're interested...verify with Bullydog that it will work for you.

Sweetness Greg thanks for the hookup! I am not going to run the programmer until I get this thing checked out and broken in, but the monitor will be nice to have and I can correct my speedo! I have noticed the more time I spend on the interstate the better the MPG is getting. Of course jason is still getting better towing a load than I am empty, so I think there is still an issue!

8.5-9 MPG running 65-70....damn hills through southern AL and Bham area are a MPG killer....
and all the little towns with stop lights...

THE NEW TURBO HELPED hitit :spin: :eat:
I was normally around 12mpg in the dodge running the **** out of it, this tank I was at 14.5 running the living dawg fawk out of it passing everything in sight on level 5. I am ****ing stoked. no towing on this tank, but if I can almost hit 15mpg running it hard and racing light to light/spinning tires on a 8K truck, I'm happier than I was. Probably because its not venting boost out of the downpipe (was broken) and between the turbine housing and compressor housing laughing

About 200 hwy miles unloaded this weekend, overhead read 18.3mpg. It has pretty much been 1mpg over so 17. Not bad, but I hope for more.

Tundra update:

I made a trip to Tellico and back, pulling my 4500 lb Jeep on my 18 foot trailer (fully loaded with tools and spares), with my new Tundra Crew Max. Running under 75 mph and mindful of the throttle on the hills, I averaged 9.3 mpg. Running over 75mph and hard on the throttle up the hills I averaged 8.1 mpg. Overall the truck performed as well or better than expected.

My 4.0 Tacoma got worse mileage than that pulling my camp trailer to NC. I got right at 9 on that trip loaded down. That is really, really nice that you can have that gas truck get that kind of mileage.

When you get your buggy it will really do well. How was the new trailer?

Made the same trip to tellico and back over 1000 miles pulling a 25ft tamdem axle dual wheel HEAVY trailer with 2 jeeps loaded with spares and stuff, running just like David, 7.5 no matter what or how i drove. 2000 crew cab dually powerstroke 4X4 Just have to deal with it.

OOh, I cna pull mine hard as I want (on a trip to ft bragg weighing 17.5K and one from texas weighing 22.5K) and not get below 11. thing is I don't get above 15 empty :P

Posted your other topic here Kelly

From BlackSheep
Heath and I got 12.5 average on the way back from bama weighing 16.5K and going through the AR and MO hills (ozarks), 65-75 the whole way. ben got 6.5-7

tires make all the difference...

i just put stock sized tires back on my 2004 F150, and i am now seeing ~15.5 mpg when i was getting 13-13.5 at best 65/35 highway-street ratio....that is about 60 miles a tank difference...

that is a HUGE difference IMHO.....

yea I have seen it too with the powerstroke. My 4.10 gears sure do suck up some fuel.

My truck has really been puzzling me with mileage, mainly cause it sucks! If I can run it ALL interstate all the time I can pull down 17-18mpg at 75mph. It costs $100+ to fill it up and that gets me 425-450 miles or so, which is every 1 to 1.5 weeks. I have the BD system ready to go on, so maybe that will help. Took it to the dealer for a checkup on TSB and DTC and it was all good and up to date. If I can't see more mileage in the next 6 months it may go bye bye in lu of an older CTD 02-03 range and I will get me a car for daily driving.

With talk of gas prices doubling by next summer I cannot afford to spend $7/gallon for 13-15mpg every day. It really sucks that things have gotten this out of hand with fuel prices, we need to start implementing alternative fuels like E85 and Bio nationwide, come to some agreement with OPEC, or start drilling in Alaska. This just sucks for the consumer, and I can afford it and pay for it, but I should not have to. At some point the price of fuel is going to cause low income workers to lose their jobs and go on welfare because they don't make enough to fill their tanks to and from work. Sorry about the rant, but I have been thinking a lot about this lately because I enjoy traveling and wheeling and the price of fuel will significantly decrease all of our opportunities to do that if things do not change.

With my 99' 2500 6.0 and 285's, I get around 11 mpg around town and 8-9 towing. It cost me a minumum of $225 in gas no matter where I tow my Jeep to ride. I only have a 26 gallon tank also.

If gas goes up above $6/gallon I will probably sell my jeep and my truck and find some other hobby. I really hope it doesn't come to that.
