So when I was on the Busy W/ ChopShop and Biglugg I got a little pissed that I was stuck and kinda overreved the ol' 3.0.:booo: I had a pretty good knock so I dropped the pan and the whole bottom end is Fawked. There is no friggn' way I'm gonna put a 3.0 back in so I picked up this cherry one owner whip from Chopshop. :awesomework:

Drove it in the shop and started stripping it down.

Got the 4.3TBI Harness and ECU out along w/ the 700R4. My Dad needs a tranny for his 56' Chev P/U he's building so this should work out good.

Got the 4.3 on the stand ready to start tearing down and cleaning tommorrow.

be easier just to ask for a spot in the shop for a week =P Curious to see how the 4.3 works out soon as my 22r blows up im on the look out for a small block or something of the sort myself. Awesome shop and nice work :awesomework:

Nice easy swap

Yeah the motor seems pretty easy. This engine is one of the most gummed up I've ever seen so I might do a rebuild just to be safe. I haven't done a comp test yet or checked the bearings but a **** load of sludge everywhere and 174,000mi. Need to find a resource for cleaning up the throttlebody, it's fawking gross to the point the plate sticks.
Was thinking of calling affordable fuel inj. to get a custom harness and prom with O2, Knock, Vss, & EGR delete.

Tranny is still up for debate. Had planned on adapting the R150 to the 4.3 but alot of the threads I've read people regret not going with an auto.
The adapter and all the clutch componants really add up quick and I know I could sell my R150 to 21spl case adapter pretty easy.

Brad wants me to consider a SM465 w/ my duals but I haven't found the adapter yet.

Puting a TH350 in seems pretty simplemand I have alot more experience with them. Wheeled fullsize for years before my TOY.

Still doing alot of reading. Might start pulling the knocker this weekend though just to show some progress.

I haven't decided if I'll be nice to the 3.0 and try to sell some parts off it or smash it! We have a 135,000lb Excavator in the yard that would make quick work of it and make me smile. But, then I have alot of pieces to pick up.

Oh well back to the info search...:awesomework:

I think Brad said they were off a seed spreader.:redneck:

Before I pulled the motor you could barely turn before they hit the firewall.

Old **** spreader trailers. :redneck:

Dont buy any parts like throttle bodies or stuff like that. I can get tons of it for little or free. If it came on that truck and you need a replacement, just let me know. :awesomework:

Ok, got the 3.ohhh pulled and all the wiring stripped out. Got everything cut off the frame to clean it up alittle. I didn't trust the gay little motor mount perches Toyota has on the frame. I'd never trust the bolt in conversion mounts from AA or NWOR no matter how HD they claim they are. I'm going to plate the frame since it's so damn thin and I wheel like a tard.

I have a TH350 on the floor w/ a downey adapter ready to bolt up to the Toy cases.

TBI motor got stuffed in the corner for now. I have a beauty of a CPI 4.3 ready to roll thanks to NateH and ChopShop. Time to **** or get off the pot I guess.

Crash, I just spent an Hr. reading your build thread on Gibby's runner. I like the mounts you build. What bushings are you using? Can I set the engine low enough in the frame to get the hood shut w/o a body lift? I have a full exo so a body lift is kinda out. The motor has a way deep sump pan on it but the TBI pan is way shallower so I'm going to try that one.

The harness I have looks like a junkyard sawzall job and has a bunch of melted **** in it. I'm going to call Jim's and Howell tomorrow. Should I use one of them to reprogram my chip since I think it was set up for a 4L60E?

Laters......................

I just put a 350 in a 92 4runner without a bodylift and the hood shuts fine, the distributor is removable, and the steering clears the pan with lots of room.

I made mounts out of 1/4 plate and 1.5 DOM with eurathane bushings.

That CPI manifold looks huge but I figure w/o an air filter on top it should fit ok. Did you run the motor back as far as possible w/o blocking dist removal?
I heard that 4.3/TH350 is only 3/4" longer that 3.0/R150. so I think I'll bolt up the rear c/m where it was and see where that will put me up front.
