Hammerz trip meeting FEB the 4th or 5th

99 sounbs very familure. I am familure down to sac but from there it was a blur. Plus it was dark when we went thru that area so I was kinda at a loss and drooling on myself by that time. :D Plus me and trev had been babbling to each other for many hours prior so----ya no ability to let the road path sink in :D

99 run parallel with and is east of 5. i usually take 99 cuz there are more places to stop if you need rest/food/fuel.

I see the need for fuel but what does rest or food have to do with anything :haha:

tHATS right. I-5 south of sac is kinda like a dead zone...

Grommit327 i guess you can rest when you get back i just hate that drive. it's cool to about Redding and then it's just a$$ till you hit hwy 58. done it many times with no sleep but haulin toys i definetly would be getting some rest.

yep, yep!! nothing but road in front of you. if you convoy at least you can have some radio play over the cb.

got an insurance check today from my totaled civic got like $1000 or so to throw into someones gas tank and on food let me know i am dying to go to this if not i am flying down the satuday of but i would really like to spend some time with nw guys for a few days before the event if anyone has any room let me know

Thats what multiple drivers are for...rotating shifts so your passenger can take "cat naps" and be rested for his turn. ;) and I get tired of the drive about the time I hit the passes in Oregon...and I'm already 3+ hours ahead of most of these guys :haha:

by my best guesses, it looks to be maybe just over 1000 miles from my driveway.....which is almost exactly what Moab is from here also.
back in the day, 1000 miles took between 20 and 24 hours (SLOW tow rig)....
last few times we've made moab in 16-19 hours straight through......gotta be "a little" more careful with speed towing in Cali though (some of the CHP guys are uber-strict about the 'towing at 55mph' thing...and the ticket can be HUGE)....
I'd say 24 hours straight through from seattle area would be a good guess at time.
and, so nobody else has to sound like an ass for saying it, alot of people asking to ride shotgun are also offering to take turns driving......don't be offended if somebody isn't comfortable w/ you taking the wheel of their tow rig w/ their toy in tow....
that said, I have no problem bombing 24 hours straight through solo......when it starts to get toward 30 hours.....I start to slow down...

yeah 22-24 hrs sounds about right if your doing 55-60 mph. when i drive by car it takes about 17-19 to get from Mt. Vernon to L.A. for some reason i dont see to many hwy patrol maybe im just lucky and i thought the 55mph towing was just for big rig's???

Anything with a trailer from my understanding...

Yeah, I won't be able to make the meeting either if it's on a Mon. night... but I'd like to be kept in the loop on what's happening with this so I can see things will work out.

Sweeet, I'm in. Just got pre flight clearance from the Mrs. Now I have a **** load of things to do to get ready.:D

Hammers?? HAMMERS??? I am alway up for the Hammers! I would not be able to make the meetin, but I would love to meet you guys there, I just need a date and time, and I will be at Mean's dry lake bed.

There are many trails to run, depending on your rig. Aftershock is where we usually run 'Hammers 101', and Wrecking Ball is my favorite trail. There is also Back Door/Resolution for those who want to get the most out of the weekend, but I hear Hwy 20 is one of the hardest too.

Here is the link to the club I am with, you can go to the video and photo files to get an idea of the trails. There are others I can wrangle up to come along for spotting and such, and I usually always have an open seat.

Any firm dates yet? What they say about the Hammers is true. It will find where the weakest link in your rig is, all I can say is "Bring Spares".
